Failed the MOT on my rear top mounts today - ordered some E46 ones to replace them

Can someone just confirm that the assembly is just made up of the shock unit then the mount on top - that there is no seperate rubber spacer between the top of the shock and underside of the mount?

Hope that makes sense

if you have a look at the guide in the articles section you'll see my right side one disintegrated completely- she did 3500 miles going metal to metal with a sock stuffed in.... 8O

If your Touring has the self-leveling rear suspension, then you'll need to order the Touring-specific top mounts. The holes running through the standard E30 or E46 mounts are too small (ask me how I found out). AND, to make it even more fun, BMW will charge you twice as much for the barely-different parts!

To your original point/question - there's no rubber gasket but a thin paper like gasket that sits between the new mount and the body.
