In what year did they become compulsory?
Were they fitted to E30's earlier than that and if so is there a performance hit with one?

august 1992..they were an optional extra from about '89 i think and the performance hit is about 5 -8 bhp..but you can fit a hi flow one which MIGHT help...i will let you know one goes on mine next month
