I'll be having my e36 rack spacers and steering coupling made next week. If anybody else wants a set of spacers and a rack coupling let me know in this thread and I'll then confirm a price before getting a batch made. We can possibly negotiate a better rate for more than 1 set.

No idea but I'm guessing it's not going to be that expensive, they aren't hard things for an engineering firm to make. I's guess about Ԛ£30 but can't say for sure until I ask them. Obviously the more names I have the more chance i can get a better price.

I've fitted an E36 rack and with careful trial and error bending and re-routing one of the pipes the standard E30 ones can be used - took a couple of hours to get it right but it can be done!

Ian Haynes had a batch of pipes made up, I've got one of those sets of pipes. He may be willing to have another batch made but I seem to remember it was a ball-ache for him.

If it's around the Ԛ£30 mark, count me in. I'm looking into some new UJ's so we can make up new narrow steering couplings too..

Well kit car manufacturers have to get these u/j's to mate the random steering racks and steering columns...Surely we can do the same?

First batch made and with their owners (except for Adil's as he's collecting his when he pops over).
Cost of further ones is £35, roughly 1 week turnaround from order date.
Anyone interested mail me on ste

Cheers!

I'm not at home at the moment, will take a pic and stick it here when I get chance.
If you go here:
http://www.m50e30.co.uk/reference.htm you can download a guide which has pretty much the exact steering coupling in it. The ones I am getting made now are slightly modified from Ian Haynes' design (basically thicker) so they fit better. I have new drawings etc and I'll be adding them to my site as I get a minute.

Anyone else? I'll probably have about 10 made as they seem to be in steady demand so if anyone else wants in just shout.

I feel i need to point out the thread title may be misleadinig - the £35 is for the coupling piece - I didn't get rack spacers made up in the end as it's easier to just use washers or drill an 8mm hole in a square of aluminium.
Hope there was no confusion - anyone changing their mind because of that - no problemos.

No, it's cool. I was going to stack up some washers or find some bar. I think even I can manage to get around to that one! Just about.

I found that a stack of thin washers was a real pain - some kept slipping out as I tried to hold them and the rack and try and push a bolt through.
In the end I used two Austin Mini 'A'-series engine manifold washers each side.
Much more managable and cost pennies from a Rover dealer!

Ahh, I was expecting some spacers but as I already have some that I made up when I fitted the rack im not bothered.
So the coupling is just going to replace the rubber UJ, right? and we dont need any other parts to put it all together?

You use the rubber with the spacer disc - Ian Haynes has provided a full walk-through to download here:
http://www.e3024v.com/reference.htm
N.B. - The spacer is slightly modified from the one in that article. It's essentially the same however, just thicker to ensure a better fit.
Cheers!

So what we are getting is the alloy disc drilled and tapped where needed and the 2 bolts, is that right?
