any tips on getting the air lock out of the cooling system and does any one know of a good mechanic in or near ilford, east london to work on my car..... cheers

You want to turn the heater all the way over to hot, remove the expansion tank cap, get the car up to normal running temperature, and sqeeze the radiator hoses to help the air escape. I don't know of any garages in that area though unfortunately.

2nd time tonight I've written this!
Fill the header tank to the top, loosen off the clip on the top heater hose at the bulkhead, and pull the hose off just enough to let some coolant and the air out. Push the hose back on and tighten the hoseclip.
Repeat with the bottom hose if you feel enthusiastic.

Sometimes helps if you jack up the front of the car a few inches to get the air out of the bleed screw. Worked for me a couple of times!!
