You'll have trouble because of the torque converter.
I've tried drifting my missus auto cab but haven't had much success.

Auto's can be drifted!
I went to a cruise about a year ago for a laugh that was set on a business park near Cambridge. there was a long straight (great for drag races) with a roundabout at the end which was great for drifting round.
This lass I know had hi-jacked her mums Volvo 940 auto and was telling me it wouldnt wheelspin or donut. We argued for about 5 minutes until she handed me the keys.... Mistake
After doing some 'lock it in 1st' full lock wheelspining, she said, pointing at some hooligan in a Supra drifting around the roundabout "I bet you cant do that"
I drove up to the roundabout, waited my turn and hit the roundabout, again with the stick as far back as it would go. I managed 3 complete 'go's' round the roundabout on full left lock with smoke billowing out of the arches before the lass went mental going on about it was her mums car. I stopped then and drove off slowly to a huge applause.
It still makes me laugh when I think about it.

That's all very well for doughnutting round a roundabout in 1st gear on the auto box but proper drifting at speed isn't really doable. Anyone can stick the box in 1st and spin the wheels up but that's not what I call drifting, that's what I call wheel spinning round a roundabout. Proper drifting it at speed and requires careful use of clutch, sharp liftoff etc etc.Andy_magic wrote:Auto's can be drifted!

An auto isn't really a drifting tool. I'm not saying it can't be done, I'm sure a very skilled driver could pull it off but I haven't managed it and I can drift my sport with ease.

I was actually being sarcastic, it seems that as soon as a newbie starts talking about driving someone will tell them they are wrong.Andy_magic wrote:Oh, Ok then perhaps you could post a video of your drifting and show me how its done.

Cheers guys, I know where your coming from, especially on the girlfriend front.
As things get older they require more attention, pampering and money spent on them, if you do this to an old E30 it's rewarding, where if you pamper your Mrs it isn't LOL
