Just removed mine and at a guess I'd say about 25kg. Only really heavy bit is the compressor.

Car's still in pieces so bit hard to tell....though from experience of removing it from previous e30 I'd say not really...in fact, if it works, leave it there and enjoy the benefits.

Only removed it in this instance due to torboing the car and it being in the way.

Why do you want to remove it?

I have recently started dragging my car against a few modded 325i's, my car is stock, while the others are fully worked (cams, exhausts, chip etc). Distance wise i'm about 2 cars behind top 3rd (not bad i reckon). I'm sure i could level out if i lose extra weight etc, without even touching the engine..In the 3years i've owned the car i've only used the aircon once, so i wouldn't miss it.

Yup, easiest and cheapest way to make a car go quicker is to shed weight. Once had a 2.8 Capri that i modded for track days. Got almost 200kg off of the thing. Made a huge difference to performance but went a bit too far and made it unbearable on the road due to no sound proofing, side glass or heater! Ended up refitting those items just so I could drive it to the tracks without freezing me nads off!

It's the combined weight of removing lots of different bits and pieces that makes the difference. A 325 in road trim has a power to weight ratio of about 140bhp per ton. Get the weight down to a nice round ton and you increase that to 170bhp per ton. It's like gaining an extra 30 bhp for free...a difference that is clearly niticeable when driving. To do that though you end up losing all the sound deadening, air con, power steering, all seats except the drivers, inner head lights etc etc etc. Very effective just a real pain if you want to use it as a daily driver.

Could allways try a set of smaller diameter wheels and tyres to lower the gearing and improve acceleration.....

I intend on keeping everything, i'm not gonna strip it down totally as i'm not a hardcore racer, just wanna have a little more fun. It's my daily driver as well so it still needs to be somewhat practical
