This conversion was done by me, As A-Tech, to offset some labour charges, and save some time I agreed with Oz that he could use my workshop and tools to remove the old engine, this is where Theo and Simon came on the scene.

Bottom end was built and ready to go when they arrived, Oz had the joy of lapping his new valves into the refurbed head, Simon and Theo had the task of pulling the old mill out, all carried out no worries.

Myself and Oz then rebuilt the head, with Simon setting the valve clearances later on, fine job done by all again.

Head was refitted and torqued down, then Simon began swopping the inlet over and all associated gubbins, this freed me up to assemble the vernier, fit the pump and cambelt, clutch etc.

As always many hands made light work,

Its not the norm for me, but I wanted Oz to have his car back on the road ASAP, plus I needed to take some time out on Sunday, and as already stated, I think everyone took some new knowledge away with them.

now all I gotta do is build the other 2.7 stroker back up and pop that into a certain white touring, oh and add the turbo

It is amazing, I remember speaking with you ages ago when you first bought a BBTB off me. ODE has come a long long way since then. I suspect the old bank balance has taken a beating aswell. I am guilty of raping it quite a few times!

I learnt that a harmless spigot bearing can be quite a nemisis all that grief and the other block's popped out easy as( with some 3 foot bars assisting ) I now have a spare in my box for next time

are there any issues with rotating the oil filter head to allow easier removal of the filter?

this post has just given me the nudge to get back out in the garage and finish lapping in the valves on my head and start putting my engine back together.

Reggid no issues with flipping the oil filter 180, all you do is reverse the flow of the oil cooler which is no problem

yes there seems to be alot of 2.7 parts buying but not alot of building! to be far it's alot of work and not for your average DIY'er when it comes to vernier pulleys and measuring up your pistons and block for machine work

Or you can go the burgerking route with a 2.0 head

Little update, passed the 100 mile mark today, goes back to Oz tomoz

gets stronger every 20 miles I swear.

Oil was spotless and golden when I checked so the rings have bedded nicely

this block was Andyboys, then sold to me, then Ed then Dips, then Oz and has finally been put to good use.

Nothing wrong with the BK route and not much different apart from the extra machining.
