When on open road the needle goes right down to on the blue zone and stays there.In traffic she goes up pretty quickly to dead centre and stays there- no flickering
Engine is not overheating or losing coolant
Diagnosis anyone - anything to worry about?

Sounds like normal to me.
My E36 328i (M52) goes quickly up to the half way point and sits there, as did my E38 728i with the same engine.
While motorway driving, the needle does drop, but not all the way to the blue.
Nothing to worry about if you ask me.

its ur thermostat mate i had mine changed on my B3 very common, its overcooling ur car, mine used be the same...town driving bang on half way but as soon as on motorway it dropped towards the blue...all fixed now and needle sits dead halfway regardless of speed
