Aha! Not quiet into sexual favours but it would be worth it...
Hes just tons of money to blow on a new car.I suppose when you have a car for 16 years you get a little bored !

Er, I meant you were jealous about the free car... but I hear you shouldn't knock it till you've tried it...scottybeemer wrote:no mate,i dont want to shag himgortour wrote:Leave him alone, you're only jealous...scottybeemer wrote:a low milage 325 for nowt, must be a good mateor you must be shaggin him

that won't actually work dude, driving other cars extension states that not only must you not own the other car you are driving, but that this other car must have a valid policy of insurance in place, otherwise people would do exactly what you are suggesting and insure an 850cc mini fully comp and buy a big fcuk off whatever and never insure it.gortour wrote:IF you drive your BMW on your 106 insurance, DON'T register the car in your own name.
Your insurance will only cover you for your car fully comp and any car you don't own with the owners permission...
May be worth dropping the 106 to TPFT to save money if you're not going to be driving it, but check you're still covered on the driving other cars 3rd party bit...
Welcome to the Zone
Welcome to the zone by the way dude, can't beat a free E30

have you put your dear old mum on as a named driver when getting quotes? it can make quite a difference if there is a mature adult on the policy, even as a named driver.
Ahh aint tried that but will do!

don't be totally sucked in by the Direct Line saga of named drivers earning NCD, it is only valid if the named driver takes out a policy with Direct Line, not worth a wank if you then went to Adrian Flux after spending 3 years as a named driver in your dad's name with Direct Line.Vowlesy wrote:Yeah, I know direct line does but any one know of any others? Ahh bollocks.. bloody insurance they shouldn't be able to get away with the shit they do...

Insurers are just bookies in a different guise
NCD is indeed at their discretion. Take for example a company car driver who has been on a fleet policy for 5 years, then gets his own motor. No NCD in his name, if they like the sound of you they will lob a good few quid off.

Buggers, ah well thats life in good ol' Britain for ya!

Something else to try is put a girl who is younger than you on the policy as long as she has a clean licence and no crashes. Some companies base it on the youngest driver, and if that driver is 18 it will probably be cheaper than you at 19, if you get where i'm coming from. Cutting mileage down and having a good postcode is another benefit. Bristol generally isn't a good postcode
Hmm could be a idea when my missus starts driving! And I got probley the worse postcode in Bristol. BS4 (Cat D I think..) But the car will be kept garaged up. Oh well we'll see when I try to insure it

Doing the whole post code trick will come unstuck as the car has to be kept majority of the time at the registered addy. A bit risky.
This guy is clearly dedicated to having his 325 and fair play to him. May be a case of taking it on the chin, paying what's owed and reaping the benefits of having cheaper insurance in the next few years with a good ncb, rather than the short sighted parents insurance route. NCB is worth it's weight in gold. As is the legal protection, have heard some horror stories that changed my mind about it. There's some ruthless American style feckers out there who will have you over a barrel and we all know life aint fair!!!

Welcome to the site mate, re the insurance ,have you thought about a limited mileage cover.
Think 5000/6000 mile per year is about average and might possibly bring your quote down.
Good choice of car btw.

Now.. Ive been offered a 88 BMW 320I SE(Auto) for £100 by a bloke in work.
I was wondering.. would it be worth getting that and putting a manual 2.5 in it later on..
A big plus Im seeing is cheaper insurance but its automatic
takes the fun out of driving I think... hmmm
Or I could always wait a few years and buy a E30 M3 straight up... hmmm
