Where did you bring it from? :D

I had a few of these from the original 4 speed 316 1600 (dreadful) to a 323i. The best one was a V plate 316 5 speed in Cosmos blue. I swa it in a breakers yard and it was absolutely MINT. I mean mint too. It had been fitted with new wings and repainted by Hartwell in Oxford and was a 3 owner car which even had the original touch up stick. What was wrong with it? It had almost no oil pressure at idle. I bought it for £50, dropped the sump and found that the O ring had blown out of the oil pump feed pipe. 20 p later it was fixed.
I sold it to a mate in London who used it for a year and gave it away to someone else when the MOT ran out. This guy then gave it to a bloke who banger raced it  :-x

As for mods - don't. Just slam it 2 inches with a cheapo Euro Car parts spring kit which makes them drive loads better. Any pics of the beast? Email them to me and I'll put them up.

Oh God they were so painfully undergeared. 80 mph is 5000 rpm! First thing to do is to whack a 3.64 ratio 320 diff in there. It does blunt the acceleration a bit (but not much) but at least you can cruise at 70-80 without the engine sounding like it's going to explode. It also improved the shocking fuel consumption. A 1600 will have the old 2002 type Solex carb and not the later Pierburg piece of shyte the 1800 used.
