Ive got an e46 323i i no it has a 2.5 engine so can i put the ecu from a 325i in and gain the extra bhp ?

probly not.

im guessing there will be a difference in the head, TB etc.

The 323 / 328 - 325 / 330 change was from M52 to M54 to lots of things different like fly by wire throttle :)

I have one too and looked at making a similar change - in short I think the answer is no, and the 325 throttle body mod which is common on e36 323s is out too from what I found.

You cannot do the throttle body mod on the E46 323i.

A remap will yeild serioulsy good gains on these cars though.

We have remapped quite a few 323i's now and the owners have been very happy with the results.

A standard car will produce 170 bhp, we can take this to 190bhp by changing ignition timing, fuel and vanos profiles.

The proceedure is done via the OBDII port and takes around 45 mins.
