put in a big 3.5, and run nitrous on it, that will shock afew off the lights LoL

it is tempting if it was a little cheaper

a good example of luxury motoring before electrics took over

That is pretty sweet - don't see many of them anymore!!!

I've had loads of E23's for my sins. The oldest was a 1977 728 (carb), left hand drive on Dutch plates in Reseda green. She had the 20 spoke Alpina style 'loys but olive green cord trim, wind up windows and four speed manual box. I also had a 1978 733i, 1979 730 (carb), a couple of 728i's plus the silver 735i (A175VOC) that was wrecked in the 'Lock Stock' offshoot series.

The last one was a Y plate 732i with wind ups and steels. I bought it off Ebay for £120 and i got a train from Mansfield down to Essex that very night. It was very clean (as good as the Ebay turd) and I remember ringing Pacerpete when I was blasting up the A1 from Essex and running him through the specification.......
I went through the owners pack and found out that the first owner ordered it direct from the factory and went to Munich to collect it and drive it back.

The torque converter oil seal went and I scrapped it which was a bit silly. Shame really because it was a straight old thing and it went and drive very well.
Not many cars I regret throwing away but that was one.

My Dad brought one home from work (BMW) in 1983. Maroon metallic Y plate 735iSE with electric leather seats and all the bits. It was a nice car.............and then you drove a Series 111 XJ6 and the BMW felt like an expensive Cortina. They were a good car but never anything really special like the Jaguars or S Class Mercs.

my mate's dad had a B reg 735 in metallic blue with blue electric leather and all the bells & whistles. The ZF box went on the fritz so it sat on our driveway for ages whilst the old man repaired the auto box in between sessions in the pub. It had some mad Blaupunkt stereo comprising of a tape deck and then 2 "swan neck" units comprising of a tuner and separare graphic equalizer. These things stuck out of either side of the centre console on flexible like tubes.

Anyone know what i'm on about?

I flattened the battery a few times on that car listening to the stereo with it stood on axle stands

Lovely car,but would be very surprised if he gets the 'buy it now' price.
Despite the mileage, condition, rarity etc, at the end of the day, it's a 7-series. They go for a few hundred...
Wonderful car, not expensive to run, looks good, reliable, but BIG...
Sad, but people just don't seem to want cars like that...

Beemerlad, you are teasing me, a blaupunkt 'stalk' set up ,the holy grail , i am wet at the thought of it !
My 745i :) has a factory becker mexico in the front and an additional becker head unit in the rear buffalo leather clad armrest alongside seat controls for the passenger front seat. This is to allow the thrusting executive in the back to dictate the tunes and stretch his executive bad self out after a hard day thrusting ! :)
E23s are poo,i really should know better, but the lure of the two beckers was too much........

lol pete, yeah I remember them well

when messing with the tuner and pressing a preset it would come out with UKV1 on the display with a nice german synthesised speak n spell voice "ooh kay vay einz"

so was having the pair of them a rare thing?

Maybe poo Pete, but comfy, quick enough, reliable, a few toys, and all for - should be - less than a 4-door E30... :D

You could always put the engine in your 320i Touring and frag the rest... winkeye

Two 'stalks' were rare by '85 , one would have been a graphic equaliser and the other the tuner as lots of earlier blaupunkt cassette players were stand alone. By '85 the high end blaupunkt stuff, i.e, new york and bamberg were combined tuner/cassette units so your dads turd must have had a berlin tape deck with a tuner stalk and a seperate equaliser stalk, that little lot in '85 would have probably cost some hero £2500 !!! the stuff of wet dreams to someone normal like me ! :)

yeah, that's the exact setup that was in the car

Think the car was for Tom Cowie of Cowies originally, it was well specced

the car also sported the reg number 350BMW, he flogged it a while back though

A wise man once said "old cars are like old people, they leak and they smell" i am sure he owned an e23 when he made this analogy or maybe a 320i ! :)
