I've heard mongoose are a pain to fit, badly made.

I have a scorpion system, perfect fit.
The old ones can be very loud if the baffle packing has blown out (common), I've re-packed mine, I had to cut the centre box open and pack it with the recommended stainless wire wool then weld it back up.
If all the baffle packing's there they sound awesome.

Cheers,

hi

i have a mongoose on my 325i and it sounds great really meaty and i would say it was well made.

i have heard from people before that they are a bad fit but mines was perfect and i love the slightly larger looking tailpipes.

I had a Mongoose for a short while, the only thing worse than the fit and finish was the attitude of the manufacturer.

They slammed the phone down rather than accept that the tail pipes were not in line with each other (on either axis) and that it sat too low because if you pushed it up it hit the underside of the car. It also stuck too far out.

They inspected the car and said it was the centre section that was causing the problem (it was a standard part). When I rang to say that I'd had it checked and it was their exhaust that didn't fit they slammed the phone down.

I got rid of it and put on a Kwik Fit special and that fitted fine.

I'll tell anyone who'll stand still long enough to avoid Collins Performance and there's a good reason Sal doesn't sell Mongoose anymore.

Mongoose systems are so varied in their fit and finish. The three I have had to fit required some serious bending to get them so that the tail pipes actually came off the floor without touching the rear subframe.

Sound wise they are again very varied. The ones that come from Blueflame sound very nice, some of the old batch are much louder than any Scorpion I have ever heard.

Add £50 to your budget and you can get a Scorpion centre and back box. If the centre gets too loud Scorpion will replace it free of charge.

Just wait and we might be able to make this possible.
