Hi,

ToughyV8- Having owned a 2001 E39 M5 for the last 2 years, I have
to totally disagree.
Add to the fact that it also had a AP 6 POT BBK,
Koni adjustable suspension, Eibach ARB, UUC SSK, DSSR Rail,
Carbon Intakes and was making 440 BHP on a dyno, it was still
one of the worst cars/engines I have ever owned.

So in my opinion I would stick to your Reliant.

Regards,

The Gorilla.

yb.. i don't know why people are so anti four pot.. its what the M3 was designed to have, as Ant mentioned. For the 6 pot owners who think 4 pots are girly, have a shot in a 318is, e30 or e36 if you driven either in six pot form, a much sharper car handling wise. Imo sticking a big V8 in a M3 is runing it more than a cossie lump would.

If it was possible i'd say as others have, to get an s14 and turbocharge that. But a yb would be the next choice for me, a reliable 300+bhp with well over 300lb/ft is there to be had, as for sound.. a cossie around the 350brake mark with a scorpion zorst can sound pretty good too ;-) no V8..but much more characterful than most 4 pot turbos, and of course, a turbo spinning and stalling is a very addictive sound

i've decided to carry on with the S62.
i had an 'issue' with this engine that was pi$$ing me off enough to lose interest,
but after speaking to someone who has categorically assured me that it's not going to be a problem, i've got renewed enthusiasm, in fact i cant wait to get out the garage after work tomorrow.

Good that you refound the interest, Glenn! I would love to see the finished product. (probably like 99.9% of the people on this forum)

... and if you're not wanting to spend too much time, what about getting a small crew of zoners with fabrication skills for a week end? I'm sure that with all the work you've already done, it shouldn't take much longer! And finding competent enthousiastics shouldn't be a problem either... :D

YAY!!!

thats the spirit Glenn its got to be V8 just so you can open the bonnet to reveal that stunning (BMW) motor :D
if the weight thing becomes that much of a problem you can always get some carbon wings and a bonnet to offset it

Glenn... that's great news fella.

The video of the previous 'host' E30 sounded awesome!

I, for one, would be more impressed when you opened the bonnet to see the BMW M-power V8 sat there than a Ford YB unit. (no disprespect Fuzzy)

Perfect balance from a cross plane V8, or vibraty shitness from an I4. No contest :D

Personally id go for the YB,the engine if tuned by the right people can be reliable and still have more power than what you would need. :D
