I am in the position to develop a turbo manifold for a BMW engine of your choice.

The manifold will be constructed from 316 stainless steel with constant radius/diameter bends. It will have 12mm stainless flanges and all joints will be TIG welded with an argon purge backing.

What I need to know is what is the most popular engine for you to turbo charge? M10? M40? M44/42? M20?

What turbo flange options do you need. I take it a T3 flange will be the best option. Will a Holeset bolt to this?

Will anybody need an external waste gate?

Approximate prices at the moment will be £295 for a 4 pot and £345 for a 6 pot. Only problem is the price of stainless has risen dramatically recently and will probably keep rising due to the pressure of demand from china/india etc.

Doug,

My Holsets on a T3 flange, most are upto the HX40 series.

I would have thought the M20 would be most popular and I know there are a few people still messing with eth TD log manifold.

If you need a Holset for getting the jig right, mines on the garage floor if you wanna borrow it.

Mark.

No piccies yet. Will be very similar to the items from 666 fabrication.

Your head flange drawing?? Why do you have one? acad? dxf?

Not a fan of XS Performance, and none of their parts are covered with warranty, it says they are but check the small print!

I take its for a 200sx and you are still gonna have to mod it to fit.

The xs performance manifolds are made of paper thin low grade stainless (1.2mm 304), welded by small boys in china and will constantly crack.

My manifolds will have higher grade 2.8 mm thick wall stainless tubing to help prevent cracking.

Can you/would you be interested in modifying the S50 tubular manifolds for E30 application?

In what way do they require modification?

The S50 manifolds need altering to clear the steering joint, Trouble is I haven't got mine in yet so dont know exactly where they need to be altered. Is all I know is that they need to be altered, likely to be 4,5,6?

There are a few people on the zone, Ian332iSport, JMC330i, Buster etc who have already done an S50 transplant and have all used different methods. Is what it needs is someone who can take a set of manifolds to the car, modify tham and copy them for future use. That way anyone doing the transplant with known values i.e. E30 car, E28 M5 mounts can buy a set "ready made" on an exchange basis that will fit. There seem to be a lot of people starting or about to start this type of conversion so it's sure to be worthwhile.

It would make my life easier that's for sure.

People like BTB will do it as a one off but it means taking the car to them as a one off service. A number of people have had a go at organising a group buy fabrication in the past but it hasn't happened yet. If you fancy having a go I do have a spare set of S50 manifolds.

if its near quality of 666 or PPF manifold then £350 is very cheap and you will probly sell abroad aswell, i guess you will need an e30 with engine in for first one to make jig, i think there is a market for it but you would probly want to do a couple not just 1 type of engine

That one in the pic just looks wrong!

Why not either use a log style manifold or a tubular, rather than a bastardisation of the two styles? :?
