I am gonna get a new set of alloys for my cabrio and was thinking

is it to much to put 18" on,,,

ideal is 17x8 w 215-40 fr. and 17x9 w 245/35 r.

the alloy are Keskin KT4 or

TSW Kyalami they just come 7+ 8" in 17" but 7/8/9 at 18"

I would like to hear your experience w/ 18"

best regards

my advise is dont buy tsw, there not strong and the e30 is too heavy for them.

you can try 8.5j with 215/40 front and 10j 245/35 rear for a streched look :D

Here's my 1991 Motorsport with 18" Alpina Reps fitted. They are 18 x 8J with 215 35 18 tyres fitted.
They ride real smooth with no vibrations or rubbing at all speeds. Mtech suspension as I didn't want it too low as i use a hardtop too.
I have posted a few pics so you can see all profiles, full side too also shows how the 8J rim now fills out the arches to the lip, as on the newer E46 M-sports.

Strangely enough, I had an absolute nightmare with 17", vibrations galore.
15" rode really smooth too, but neither 15" nor 17" filled the arches out right to give it the stance i like.

nice looking car you got there andy

i got two cars with 18 wheels on and they are both lowered 60mm

they dont rub on the arches either only if you fill the car with loads of heavy people

how lowered is your car and also what suspension are you using?

i have koni adjustable on one car and they are set to be stiff so no chances of them hitting the arches if you zoom off.

I have standard mtech shocks and springs, however i have fitted coupe rear springs which are a tad softer. This has dropped the rear ever so slightly to 'level-out' the stance and ground clearance all round. This can be seen clearer in the first pic. The 8J rims may rub if lowered. This really gives the car a nice level look without rubbing when loaded with passengers and hardtop.

Cheers for the compliment, I have kept it for 8 yrs as standard as possible (apart from wheels/indicator lenses).
