It should be a step in the right direction if your first gear is too short, you might get an extra 5-10mph out of first ?fuzzy wrote: will it make a noticable difference then?how should it affect things like acceleration and top end as my first gear at the moment is a very short, quick change?
If your gearing is too short generally(too many gear changes) for your power/torque levels then it might make your car a bit quicker over all and increase the top end speed.
It's one of those suck it and see things because you can guess at how it will feel but you won't know for sure till you try it.
I started off with a 3.25 which was too tall, then i tried a 3.64 which is close but a tad too short geared so eventually i want a 3.46

Swopping the cylinder head on my 1275cc MG Midget-engined Morris Minor Traveller for a Metro one. Bought the head gasket set today from my local motor factors for a bargain £6. Good old A-series engines, you gotta luv 'em!

I noticed a lot of rod shop here and in the US are now using baking soda to strip bodies, from what I've seen its very effective and leaves the panels unlemished with the acne you sometimes get with sand.
I've got 2 2.7 bottom ends to build, all machining done and finally back, just need to gap the rings and bolt em together, one is a high comp N/A the other low comp all forged steel, should be fun
If there's time, I may start popping mine back together, been off the road since september the 20th

Yep, FAB engineering use soda to blast their cylinder heads. It's definitely the best media for use on alloys and the best bit is that they wash it down the drain when they are finished with it. It wont break through paint as well unfortunately.
