Track driving is just pure fun. You don't have to drive like a lunatic to enjoy it.

Whenever I suggest to someone they should go out on track they always come back with "but it's my daily car, It;s gonna break"....me meme meme mmeeeee

It's safe fast driving as long as you don't try to be a hero.

My M5 has done 3 track days now, I drive it as hard as I can (which is probably 25% of Dave Tourings legendry ability), nothing goes wrong other than the brakes and tyres wearing out a little faster.

Dave, I need a good photo, poster of you going up on our wall.

Has anyone pointed out differences in track?

Just the thought of snetterton reminded me. A 325 would probably be better there 'cause it's got long straights. An iS would probably be better around say Cadwell, where it's twisty.

I should think a 325i would whip a 318is on the steep hill up to Druids at Brands; I'd happily test the theory given half the chance, even with my 325i's open-diffed wrongness

:pff:

has there ever been a zone track day?

you can hire kevil for £4500 exclusive ecluding instructers, medic & porter loo so get 56 people 80 quid ea. approx :D
Us in our 200sx, old man and brother, book with:

www.motorsport-events.co.uk

Next years calender isn't up yet i don't think, but its usually around £89. Great fun, maybe a few too many straights for some peoples liking though. Its down south, towards bristol way, near a place called chipperham. So perhaps a bit far to for some londers?

Matt where did you find that out, that suprises me that its that much. Motorsport events can't be paying anywhere near that level, as i have never seen close to 50 odd cars there.

Also trying to get 56 zoners to dig into their pockets is never going to happen! :o

Dave, also i still think you would beat me, even though you only have a bit over half the power. Its all about smoothness and talent, neither of which i have  Personally i'm not worried about sliding at 70mph, guess i'm not one of these people that thinks...what if...etc.

Tbh dave, sneterton aint going to happen for us. Sorry mate

Oh guys!

I'm not that good! I'm just mental.

Jon, don't worry about Snett, I'll post up other tracks I'm gonna do at the start of the year (before 'Ring season) and hopefully you can make one of those. :)

Sal, if you really want a photo, (of a Honda) I have a wicked huge res photo of the Civic like this........

Jon_Bmw, i rang motorsport-events and asked how much for an exclusive day just us,

but have to agree with you getting 56 non messers is a tall order, if it was 2-2.5k for the day
20-25 @ 100 quid each might be do-able :D

you should see dave with the girls, he's not smooth there either

Bedford Autodrome is a wicked circuit. I went there once for a BMW Car Club track day - sorry, 'better driving day'. CSL's, lots of M3 E30 Sparco heroes...........and myself in an ex police D plate 528i on shagged 415 TRX's. My word they grip well in the dry once worn smoother than Dave (and that's smooooooooooooth).
The poor old E28 was smoking well by the end of that day.
