Would solve a few arguments for a while, until people start arguing that the cars weren't running right etc haha!
Still be a giggle, and as Theo says they do £40 sessions at Brands! Game on!

new owner will be up for it i'm sure,Theo325 wrote:Anyone got a 318is who is willing to track it? Kos is eager, but seems to be forgetting that he's sold it, and the new owner is no doubt busy admiring all the AC schnitzel morsels!
we need a 325i with minor tweeking (chip and exhaust NO manifolds!) to go up against my old IS
if not, 2 stockers.

Theo's executive standard 325 would kill a standard 318is
Timed my IS today 0-60..........
7.9-wheelspin in 1st and 2nd on a real greasy road
Got to be 7-7.5 in the dry,not many mods either. With all my trim out trackday spec who knows????
Apart from the roads today was ideal-stone cold damp foggy air!
It might not sound as good but it will murder a 325!

Good to see you putting your newly purchased £7.99 casio watch from Argos to good use...7.9-wheelspin in 1st and 2nd on a real greasy road
Kos you say that it should be a chipped 325i to go up against your (ex) remapped/chipped IS, but then again you have previously stated in this thread that a 318is will respond much better to this very modification....
The fairest way would be to do a stock 2.5 vs a stock lawnmower, same driver etc, but there are very, very few un molested E30's about, especially on here!

A trackday is the only way to find out! this will end the arguments.

is this still going on? ive forgotten the arguments, could someone refresh my memory and tell me why it is that some people think that a 1.8 with around 130 odd bhp and a very slight weight advantage should beat a 2.5 with 170 odd bhp and more torque?

Joking aside, I would genuinely like to see the results, and like I say - I'm more than happy to use my car as the comparison (me driving it). Why don't we just organise a bit of a meet at Brands Hatch on a track day and get a few of each model together and see what the general trend is? £40 for an hour is well worth it!

You should be on telly mate, you're funny!
"How my 136 bhp 318iS accelerates to 60 as fast as a 210 bhp Alpina C2 2.7............" Wasn't there a song by Supertramp about you?
Tell you what mate - when you actually own a properly fast car you'll be dangerous!! But do let us know.

Need some middle ground.........

I reckon the power your car has would create plenty more traction issues,so 6.7 is not bad really consideringfuzzy wrote:hmmmm....i did the same on greasy roads last week and the quickest i could get was 6.7.only 1 second less with more than double the power, sorry ,but im not believing that, unless you are the real 'schuey'schuey wrote:Timed my IS today 0-60.......

Just below 8 for me seems about right if stock is alledgedly just over 9,as for being the real schuey.......It has been said that I look a lot like him! Especially before I changed my race suit to blue from all red

If all else fails I will have to break out the family car and show the 325 gang some FWD 20v turbo wrongness

this needs to be sorted, these threads keep popping up
me, firmly in the 6 pot camp but you knew that right ?
Stock examples required only methinks, Kos had a valid point on the sport/325i bit though, we comparing LSD equipped iS with like, or both open diff wrongness ??
if we are gonna have a pi$$ing contest, the rules need to be clear cut, and no cheating allowed

Stock 0-60 for a 318iS is 9.3 seconds or 10 seconds for a catalyst car. These figures are meaningless however - they were just done by professional road testers on a properly surfaced test track using properly run- in new cars using professional timing gear.
So yeah, knock a second or more off for Zone testers...........
You should listen to yourselves! Hilarious!!

It seems obvious that a 325 would/should wipe the floor in a staight line!!!! But with the right tuning the 318is is lighter and you can get more from it because it revs harder - why do you think they made the M3 a 4 cylinder???
Be good to see the race though

Cool man!
I can't find the link to the £40 sessions at Brands anymore! Anyone?
I'll book a couple straight away! OR there is a full open pit day there on the 27th of Jan.

This I would like to see, is this going to be a full on shoot out, surely to make it 100% fair both drivers should do a lap in each others cars and then the times added together and averaged.
