cant remove steering wheel

i am breaking my 320i and want to remove the steering wheel, i have removed the badge and the big nut but it is stil stuck on. It will lift about 5mm but then gets stuck solid. Am i not doing something simple?

any help appreciated

yep...stick the key in the ignition and turn to release the steering lock!

I found this out at the scrappy... couldn't get the wheel off. Came off in the end though, but the steering lock was then shagged!

Put the key in and take the steering lock off... you'll kick yourself for not doing it in the beginning!

I've done the same in scrappy for 30mins wrestling and mullering an E30 dash, one of the blokes just came over with the keys and said "try these it's abit easier mate"

i managed to pull one of at scrappy once from car that had no key, i put a bar thro the wheel and after about 5mins of wrestling it came off, it put up a good fight though.

Discovered this myself earlier,I thought this should be an easy job,than it got stuck,and I start losing patience,rapidly,until I realised it was probably locked on!
Key in wheel off
Then recomposed myself,now I have a straight steering wheel
