Hi,
From what I've managed to get from various articles on the different M3 special models (Evo, Ravaglia, Cecotto, etc.), it seems that Macao Blue was only used on certain variants.
My question is this: was Macao Blue ONLY available on the non-standard models? I have what I believe to be a standard M3, in Macao Blue, and understand that this colour is rare on standard M3s. It also has light grey leather (heated) seats.
However, so that I can be sure my one is indeed a standard M3, and not one of the specials, what clues should I look for, in the interior. on the bodywork, and in the engine bay?
Cheers.

It should have a plaque.
Chin spoiler a few other bits to show its a special edition which it hasn't.
if you could get me the VIN number i could look what model it is or i'll post the link.
Macau only came in cecotto or EVO II. But there must be exceptions.
Altho you could have what you wanted aslong as you paid for it.

In addition to the evo 11 and cecotto/ravaglia , BMW made 150 (?) europameisters, these cars all had identical spec, macau blue with no additional spoilers and full grey heated leather, i.e door cards and centre consoles in stitched leather as well as the seats.
M3s are now old cars and over the years lots of mixing and matching and other more sinister activities have occurred. Best way to establish its original spec is give your local dealer the vin number, this will reveal all.
I once bought an M3 convertible with a numbered cecotto plaque taking pride of place in the centre console, shortly afterwards i purchased a cecotto with its plaque missing, problem solved !

Well a friend of mine had a Macau 87 car long before I had mine. So I wasnt that interested in whether it was a Evo/Europa/Cecotto or anything. Its subsequently been written off. So not like I can jsut pop round and have a look.

Thanks for that. The last seven digits of my VIN number fall into the range: 1894614 - 1894628. From that, I guess it'd be a Europameister. The interior spec does seem to fall in line with that, i.e. silver extended Nappa leather interior including the center console and special diagonally-pleated door panels, plus door sill plates with the 'M3' insignia.maxfield wrote:Evolution I 2190005 - 2190787

However, there's no 'Europameister 1988 auf BMW M3 Roberto Ravaglia BMW Motorsport GmbH' plaque.
Any thoughts?
Cheers.
who knows whats happened to the plaque or if it had one to start with but id say you have had a result

Interesting. No matter how many photos I take of my Macao Blue M3, it always seems to come out looking like a black car. In your pic, the car looks almost silver-blue.JaMMi wrote:Snap :p

Oh F**K.
Sorry peeps.
Now I look at it again, it totally isn't. As per my intro post - Sorry - and its my excitement at seeing the M bit and mistaking it for the M3. So, so wrong now I realise. Poosticks.
