Holset Turbo.. would this work on an m20?

I've noticed these turbo's are respected by alot of people here, but also read that diesel turbos are not suitable on petrol engines?
Would this turbo work on an m20?

So how many of us are gunning for this Holset then? 
Sure I've heard people saying they don't boost until as much as 4000rpm!
I'm really keen to make another TT system only this time using something like that Holset and something like a T25 too so as to generate axle snapping torque off idle and still get a decent top end.
Seems that standard late bottom ends are good for over 350bhp at the wheels so the cost should be concentrated only on the exhaust and induction systems

as the only person currently online with actual experience of a holset'd M20 let me tell you this:
Boosted to 1-2 psi on no load @ idle( revving it )
8 psi @ 2.8K, loads more above
if its a 16 or 18 cm/2 buy it !!!!!!

to answer Dan's Q on the derv turbo on petrol, the sheer size and robustness of the holset commercial series means you can get away with the higher gasoline EGT , but a smaller derv tubby would be borderline @ best.
Just to add, by common consent the "sweet spot" on the H1C in 80mm+ compressors starts @ 1 Bar, lower CR is a must have, my HX35W comp map is sweet from 17-36psi , lots of headroom there

lower cr?so are you running decomp plate or something?thought stock facelift was ready to roll on its native ratio?
Ah i see, so maybe not the best idea if the max i'm intending to run is a bar then Ant?

honda boys abuse these turbos with anti lag, they are solid, nice turbo, wont get much lag, people have used much bigger turbos and spooled before 4k

obviously you are doubtful......t4 is more square looking than the rectangular looking t3........
I have a H1C, ~50mm inducer, with the 18cm2 exhaust housing going on a eta block, 885 head with forged slugs (8.0:1 CR) will let you know in a few months how it goes once its running

The H1C or HX35 are great turbos for most stock 'i' engines that aren't looking for insane power that would require lower compression than 'i' stock 8.8:1. Like say 400+ crank hp would require an HX40 and engine bottom-end modifications.
They both usually have a T3 divided entry, couple that with a manifold adapter and separate Tial 38 mm wastegate and it would be enough for a 1-1.5 bar setup. We're talking safe 300 whp with aftermarket ECU (fuel + ignition).
3.5" downpipe and 3" exhaust with a single muffler out the back and you're set on the exhaust side.

i dont think ypu need a 3.5" exhaust to make 300 hp like hes saying tho, 1 bar on stock compression is possible but your on the limit of wha t the stock gasket with non stretch can take, might be safer to get a MLS or orings with welded channels, with orings and welded head with ARP bolts on the internals people have run close to 2bar std compression
My H1C is a T3 flange
18cm3 housing too, 82mm compressor in it also, so plenty of power to use up as yet.

Shouldn't do anything at idle I wouldn't have thought.
Not at all, as Alex said, they only test the exhaust as idle, saying that I did go and see the MOT man before I dropped mine in, took a few attempts to explain what I meant but they had no problems at all.WillG wrote:no problems on the MOT with a screamer mark?
