Update:

I have ordered the megasquirt ECU from BimmerJim in the US, after much research and opinion gathering it would seem the logical choice.

Why ? well siply because almost all the US and ?Aus guys are running it, they've had good results and its a good unit.

Staying faithful to the original low budget too which is coolio :P

downside is a 2 month wait, I can be patient

Afraid the K2 only does engine speed and throttle position. It can't do turbo applications :(

For that, you need the M3D.

It's quite a cool "lite" version of the ECU though if you've just got a N/A engine that needs controlling :)

what are you doing manifold wise dude ?
I got the manifold about two days ago off an omega 2.5td, also known as the 525td engine. The ports actually match up better than my estimations, with only about 1mm needing to be shaved off some of the ports.

The bolt holes are similar(if not the same as the 524td manifold) so the top bolt holes will be fine, but i'll have to do notches like the jdturbocharging bloke.

The thing is that the exhaust/turbo flange is not your generic t3 i believe, it has three bolt holes and i believe that the port is a fair bit smaller. There is room for increasing the size of this quite considerably. What i think i'll have to do is get/fabricate an adapter to convert a t3 to fit as these are the most commonly available turbos. A TD04 looked about the right size so currently i'm trying to find dimensions for a variety of turbos.
So if anyone knows what flange size is on a e34 525td manifold i would be very greatful!

The other thing i've got/in the post is those injectors, but whether this will cause it to overfuel all throughout the rev range i'm unsure, a bit of trial and error with this project!

Other things i'm considering getting are:

A 325 downpipe, cut the two pipe fitting off so that you turn this around and it will bolt to the original downpipe and then fabricate this into a single pipe with some help from pipe off cuts and a welder!

A thicker head gasket, i will probably purchase one if i take the head off to make it easier porting the head-so in turn new non-stretch type head bolts.

Things i will need:
A FMU to increase the fuel pressure with boost, i think that the 'americans' got good results using 12:1 ratio.

Oil feed and return lines, but working in a dealership i might aquire these of something like an astra diesel turbo-they are actually wuite cheap-More thought required on this.

Charge piping is going to be essential obviously, and i'm on the look out for any that is getting thrown out or not used.

An intercooler off something like a rover 800 or bigger, again this is for cost purposes.

And loads of other things i've forgotten, i've got a nice loooong list at work.

I was considering getting megasquirt, but i'm gonna see how i get on first, and i'll probably find it runs real rough if it ever does run and then i'll consider getting megasquirt. Am i right in thinking megasquirt gets its info. off generic GM sensors or alike??

Well, I picked my head up yesterday and have lapped in all the valves, plus installed 3 exhaust valves.

I've also sent off for a quote for the exhaust flanges so I can fabricate the manifold.

I've also discovered a cossie intercooler sized space where the horns live at the moment so I can mount them nice and inconspicuously :)

Bought all the wiring and connectors for the Emerald.

Next up is to finish the head (bottom end's all rebuilt) and take measurements for the throttle bodies. Then there's the simple task of designing them, tooling up to make them and knocking out a set.

Sounds so simple doesn't it

I'm ready to bolt up again, just waiting for the Megasquirt stuff to be completed and shipped form the US( wohoo , no more AFM).

Were modding Fozzys sump on saturday for his return pipe, I did Pauls the other week(popupstands) I have a merc C250TD fitting on mine, Paul and Fozz are using freelander TD4 returns as they are compact and strong as feck

I have had this lot bolted up once already, apart from a few niggles with regards to charge pipe routing and the yet to be ordered elec fan kit were up and running.

After Saturday gonna be anothe 4 weeks til I can finish what I started.

Buster is almost there I believe now too.

Long time coming, yeah for sure but worth every second to get this right the second time
