Find it quite interesting seeing what mods give which results so if people are willing, it'd be cool to have them on display for all to see together with a breif outline of what's been done to the engine.

Of course no two rolling roads are alike in what they give as a readout, but they're probably not too far apart.

To get things rolling, here's mine:

Engine:
Early 9.7:1 compression M20B25

Mods:
Two Skyline turbos
6 throttles
Tubular manifolds
Twin 2" exhausts
Two cossie 2WD ICs

Cheers!

Reckon keep it E30 or engines installed in E30s wherever they come from to give people an idea of what's possible :)

Although techincally not an E30, this is my engine in my E21. It has E21 323i bottom end, M20 later head, custom machined pistons, standard cam, t25 turbo with 360 degree bearing, comp ratio is 7.1-1 (i think), 3" zorst all the way through, setup running KMS efi with coil pack, Demon Tweeks intercooler and lots more. This power run was done after the efi was setup and engine rebuild, pulled at 5 psi held. I still need more things doing to it before upping the power, but this is the baseline figure.

Erel, my mate has popped your graphs up on the snood so here they are :D

Blingsta's graphs:

Power (BHP)

Torque (lbft)

Wonder what the dip in the torque is on it's way up.

Will be interesting to compare to your results when you get your new blower :D

It's great that you're getting power runs done inbetween mods, shows the benefit of what you're doing each time

If you where able to run 91oct then the timing wasn´t advanced as much as possible for max power, it it had you
wouldn´t have been able to run 92 on a 99 setup, with 99 in the tank and advanced timing you´r looking at easy 10hp more over the rev range, as timing could be advanced alot more, and definitly some free power picked up,

lets say it was tuned to the max on tescos 99oct, then surely either it is of lesser octane then advertised or the 92 is of alot higher octane then advertised as well,
With great challenges comes great engineering.

Thinking about it, isn't the lowest octane available in the UK RON 95?

I've never seen the point in having your car mapped on the highest octane available cos it'd be just your luck to end up out the arse end of nowhere on a hot day with great roads to drive but a tank of lower octane gas so you can't give your engine the exercise it deserves.

IMHO, it's wise to use what's available everywhere.

time to resurrect an old thread methinks! Was looking to see hom mine compares with Andy335tourings wall of torque and it's not bad :)

spec wise, it's got a free flowing exhaust and the compression increased from 9:1 to 10:1. ignition etc are all unchanged at present.

the LPG system is a single point 37mm (iirc) mixer, OMVL R90/e vap, leonardo ecu.

the engine (M30B35) should put out about 210bhp and 210 lb.ft as standard...

On petrol with mixer venturi removed - 221 bhp, 238 lb.ft
Image
200lb.ft at 1800RPM!!

On petrol with mixer venturi fitted - 204 bhp, 223 lb.ft
Image

On LPG with mixer venturi fitted - 183 bhp, 216 lb.ft
Image

A good result considering it's a 21 year old engine :)
