looking at doing a e30 lump conversion possibly a 3.5 or 3.8 lump depending on funds but theres a few thing i need to know please help

1) how does this go down with insurance companies and whats the increase

2)how hard is it do what needs to be bought exta??? ( mounts???)

3)what from the drive train of the doner car needs to be transplanted

4)which e 30 model is best (thinking 325i for lsd or can this be fitted to any model)

5)electonics how hard is the re wire or ius it just a case of swapping ecus

many thanks im guessing these questions have been asked loads

do a search, this gets asked a lot.

insurance can be reasonable on a classic policy. mine's well under £500 with 3.5, turbo, all mods declared etc.

Because of the weird way some insurance companies calculate premiums, you might even find that a 316 fitted with a 3.5 M30 can be insured for less than a standard 325.

the question about increases on your insurance can never be answered mate, get on the blower and find out,

as Brain stated about some insurance madness, possibly get a mix set of qoutes (i.e using a 316 shell to put the engine in and then get qoutes of the same but with a 320 and then 325) just to see the difference if anything

As for the LSD, they were not standard on all 325i (only the sports) and can be fitted to any E30.
So.. unless you find a car with one fitted don't worry about it. They usually go for about £250 +/- delivery.
E30 Touring 0.35 cD - more slippery than prison soap :)

who are you insured with toby? i was paying about the same on mine without the angry snail! that was with adrian flux... though i now have a better address and a garage :D

err, firebond i think.

i'm required to have another car though. but that's ok as the e30 always seems to be in bits :D

my total ins bill is about 600 per year
