Right here it goes.. Old figures were-

BHP-194.9 @ 5000RPM
TORQUE- 222.3 @ 4000RPM

Had new custom made 2.5" vortex exhaust built on Saturday and just got home from R/R number 2..

BHP- 203.4 @ 5000RPM
TORQUE- 237.4 @ 4000RPM

So that nearly 10BHP and 15lbs of torque ive gained.. :D

Car feels soooo schweet now, but he told me theres still more hiding which will be released with a re-map...???

That is a lot of torques you've got there, I bet that car drives great!

The man that did the run still thinks that the turbo exhaust housing is way too small and car is losing alot of power due to it at top end.... at least ive got somin to go on

bumped up a bit then, coolio.

bigger hotside is the next item, compromises are coming back to haunt you mate  life's like that dude :thumb:

just to add, all we did ( A-Tech) is fit the customers supplied turbo parts and provide the ECU and mapping to date, Erel( blingsta) is already aware of my thoughts on the next step forward, and its not a cheap soloution, a hybrid is required and no-one has an off the shelf soloution that will work correctly on the M20B25

Clear aims are required, no sense going for 400 HP on a daily driver ....

can agree with that, my 535 is the standard 2.5inch all the way through till something bigger at the back box and its a bit boomy (if thats a word?) i think it losses some of the whirl a straight six gives.

still sounds good but i bet its nothing compared to a PROPER 2.5 system. :D

That is a lot of torque Erel

Really interesting how different systems behave isn't it? Mine made 240lbft but quite a lot further up at 5146rpm but I'm still puzzled by the relatively low headline figure. As Ant says, must be the turbine housing strangling it or something :(

Haven't got a power graph to post have you? :D

Will have to take mine into work for some scannage so we can compare, am I right in thinking you're running 7psi still?

Cheers!

Alex, thanx for you view mate, it started at 7.5psi at first but since having my bigger injectors fitted and now the new zaust, my boost gauge shows it on a steady -8psi on idle, i take it that means im running 8psi? however when boost kicks in, the needle shoots upto 0.4 but eases off slightly as rpms increase? i believe thats where im losing the power, as Ant and yourself have pointed out, small hotside on the turbo!!! as for the power graphs, best i can do is take a piccy on my mobile and send to someone who can host for me, (Any takers for this???)

Oh and what do you mean by being puzzled about the relatively low headline figure mate? which part is that? :D

If you send it to mcbain3<at>gmail.com I'll ask my mate to host it and mine when I scan it in :D

The idle reading is the vacuum in the manifold that you're seeing. If you have a peek at the boost gauge when the throttle's shut and you're going along quite quickly you'll see it a fair bit below 8psi.

If it's showing 0.4bar on boost then that's only about 5.88psi :D

The headline is the one everyone seems interested in, the powaaaaaaa :D However muchos torquio probably makes your car very punchy

If 0.4 on boost is only 5.88 psi, than thats excellent.... :D . i thought my psi was whatever the gauge shows at idle!!! but of course, if 14psi is 1 bar how can i be running 8psi if gauge only shows 0.4 on boost.. im such a plank!!!

cheers buddy, actuator is untouched, no bleed valve.. any ideas what it was set to when you had it??

Next step? Hmmmm, i dont wanna be too greedy and start causing any untoward problems ! but its been well documented that the hotside of the turbo is very small and strangling the entire system so that may get looked at soon.. Then its gonna be game over... im not gonna get too greedy.... :D

never say never...lol...r.e thought the actuater was stock cozzy setting 9 or 11 ring a bell?was around there anyway unless the rod has been tweeked?

just checked and all standard cozzies exept escort are limited to run 10 psi so its around there somewhere.

dude maybe you should try a different actuator too? just incase yours has seen better days, if its causing the boost to tail off it might explain why your power is at relatively low rpms? or i could be talking rubbish lol! :o:

But i know a friend had problems with his cossie holding boost high up and turned out to be a tired actuator...

Either way, nice results dude!! thats alot of torque!!

Ah hA! Here we go, I'll show you mine if you show me yours. Sorry about the size :D

Be interesting to see what happens with another 3psi

Also wonder whether I'll get full boost at less than full engine speed with the boost solenoid doing it's thing :D Odd that the torque is just starting to climb again at the very end too.

Cool, forwarded it onto my mate for hosty hosting.

Christ, you can see the strangulation as the power drops away to almost nothing towards the end! Your car's gonna be transformed when you get your new turbo! :D

Boo, my mate's ill at the mo so might be a couple of days :(

Incidentally, a more free flowing manifold would almost certainly pay dividends in terms of power and torque / psi so in some ways you could create a system that's more powerful but less stressful on the engine (lower temps and less likelyhood of detonation anyway)

Cool, a step in the right direction the exhaust swap

I'd guesstimate if you were making peak power at 6k rather than at 5k as it is now then you might be around 250-260bhp ?

hybrid mate, mine will not be enough to justify the effort, if yours is a 1, mine is a 1.1, and you need a 1.8.

if you're gonna do it , then save a few £Â£ and do it dude :thumb:

it does, im really happy with it, the only time i get a bit stressed is when i actually look at the graph, they way the torque line drops at 3.5k... but obviously cant feel that when driving... it feels brilliant..
