I have a shagged power steering rack (was p1ssing 'oil' all over the place). Having got hold of a rack in decent condition from the local breakers, I now have a spare. Rather than throw this away, I would like to overhaul the rack, leaving a spare for the next time my rack goes.
Ideally looking for both a detailed methodology and a parts list.
How to overhaul a steering rack

Don't think it can be done as a DIY, which is why there is a thriving trade in recon units.
However someone might come along and prove me wrong!

I'm not completely perfect.......there are some bits missing or broken.
But the weather here helps!!!

It's do able if you can get hold of a seal kit. They seem to be able to get hold of he kits in the US, and there are a couple of step by step guides in the US E30 forums.

Why don't you just buy another 2nd hand rack??
My brother got one from Gaydon for £5....I repeat £5. Which is currently attached to my car! after I put it on last week...Works fine too.
