Thinking about turbo or some kind of engine transplant. If i go the turbo route im looking at a 250 -300bp area.Obviously i will need a brake upgrade first. Is there a common option for this or are all you turboites using all kinds of systems. Thanks for any info.

Think a lot of people are just using uprated pads without any problems.

Went for a Wilwood setup for mine though which has bigger discs than standard and 4pot calipers :)

BHP doesnt really effect the size of the brakes but the weight of the engine does. Having to stop at 60mph with 300bhp is the same as having to stop at 60mph with 100bhp. Bigger brakes will just improve how well you stop.
If you turbo a 2.5 engine for example you would only need to uprate the standard size discs and pads, drop a big heavy engine in and you will need bigger brakes.

I dont know the weight difference between a bmw 6 cylinder engine and the cossie engine but I would say standard size brakes will work fine on that conversion as the cossie should be lighter.

Looks a nice conversion fuzzy, any more pics or details?

If you don't wanna buy an expensive set up, go for ferrodo DS2500 pads, grooved disks (not drilled as holes are key stress concentration points and can start cracks), braided hoses and some good fluid (castrol srf is the best).

This set up is fine for most track abuse.

Very true indeed, doesn't hurt to uprate the stoppers though. :)

Guess the car has potential to cycle between high and low speeds with more power so there is a litte more likelyhood of cooking the standard items with more power.

true but what i meant is that as i can obviously accelerate much quicker its just reassuring that you can stop just as quick without the brakes fading and the standard size discs and pads uprated can cope with ease.theres pics on my thread in the photo gallery :thumb:

there are sooo many threads on this both on this forum and over on e30tech but it seems to come down to what size wheels you have or want ...there is only the wilwood for 15s as a bolt on and the only cheaper conversion is using corrado 280 discs and rx7 callipers with a fabbed up adaptor but for 16+ have a look on e30.de where they give the full revue
