M30 / E30 onversion - Rad fans?

Hi guys
One of just 2 last jobs to do on my conversion is the electric fan conversion. Can you please tell me what fan etc...you used and maybe show me a pic or two? I'm thinking of just buying a new kit from Spall or somewhere but also have a couple of aircon fans off e34's here as well as a pair of Cosworth ones.

Spadge,E34 air con fan seems to be a popular option,mega powerful too!

I got a Spall 13" blow-through (off Ebay) mounted on home made brackets inside the fron mask.
It's always kept engine cool enough in traffic etc.
Got it wired to an automatic switch in an adaptor in the top hose and an over-ride switch on the dash.

i used 2 series 2 RS turbo fans.£10 each !!!

I have a pair of heavy duty grpA touring car ones off an RS500 here and will have a go at fitting them
Failing that the E34 a/c one but that will need some brackets making-up.

One of the guys on here templ8 has peugeot 405 twin fans on his and they fit in nicely with a liitle mod

i have twin shitroen BX 16V fans (leftovers from a 205 mi16 conversion
) that i fitted in front of the rad. very neat installation too, until i twigged they suck air out the front when wired up as they're normally 'suckers' mounted begind the rad. they now run backwards but are none too efficient! hopefully some pug 406 fans will fit the housing as they're 'blowers' afaik.
it's fairly east to replicate the aircon fan wiring and use a twin stage bmw aircon fan switch either in the rad or thermostat housing (using the bmw aircon fan resistor) as otherwise with one high speed fan it'll sound like a jet engine when it kicks in! the wiring on mine uses the spare fan relay slots and fuses in the fusebox for a more factory looking setup

Still only driven the car about 50 feet to date and it needed 2nd gear already lol

E34 fan fits perfectly. Drill a hole for one of the rubber mounts in the frame in front of the rad half way up on the right hand side. You only then need two small angle brackets to fit the other two mounts to the bonnet hinge panel and the lower rail.

is the E34 the same as a E30 aircon and/or E30 M3 one? i seem to remember reading that they are the same somewhere......

they 'look' similar but i've not seen the varieous types together to compare.
i suppose it would make sense if the E32/4 one was bigger as the aircon and cooling rads are HUGE in comparison to the E30 ones and more area would need covering

Exactly what I did but using a Spall fan and on the left hand side of the radiator. I just cut out a couple of small pieces of thick aluminium, bent it, drilled it and bolted/riveted it. The E30 ones are definatly smaller guys!
