Bilstein Streetline Kit

Has anybody had any experience of this kit?

Tweekies sell them for about Ԛ£250 so it sounds like a fairly economical way to lower my car (bog spec 325i) but if it's not worth the bother, I'll have to throw more money at it.

Any thoughts appreciated!

Hi, I have fitted these they are a bit bounce on the front. I would throw more money at it.

Streetline is just standard Bilstein shocks + Cheapo springs.
Apex kit is much much better.

Sprintline kit is soft aswell, really not impressed.

Best thing you can do is buy a H&R kit. if its too low then go for H&R springs @ Ԛ£110 + any decent shocks. Boge mtec stuff is actually very very good. Bilstein sports work out at about Ԛ£350 so thats really expensive.

Bilstein sport dampers + Eibach Pro springs - at least that's what was recommended to me when I spoke to a very nice chap at Motorsport World today - works out a bit more expensive, but apparantly worth it

ive had 'leaky experiences with the streetline kit.... they were crap as were the springs which were harsh yet still soft......

Ive got bilstein sports and they are very good! I would not put anything else on any of my cars. The high speed cornering/stability is just amazing.

(i know that its not only the dampers that contribute to cornering ability)

Bilstein Sport shocks are excellent. I think H&R kit uses them to H&r spec.

Alot of money though but worth it.

Bilstein Sport dampers are really good, but sadly a bit too stiff for the poorly maintained roads in this country.

Sachs/Boge M-Tech specification dampers are an extremely good option, and if you have the money, H&R is the way to go.

The Bilstein Streetline kit has good dampers, but the springs are crap, and most people (BMW and non-BMW) who have tried it have usually thrown those springs away (think they are Ventura branded)

Si you should get the Bilstein Sports all round, then some H&R prings to match, this is the best combination around for your needs. It wont be worse than the ride you have now. It might be softer. $$$$$

Are these the best Bilstein E30 rear dampers you can get without buying a full kit?

Yes, these are used by AC/Alpina/Early Sports/Hartge/H&R.

They are very good, they are auto adjusting (both on rebound and compression) and have a life time warranty.

Any comment on the spax psx kit? 40mm drop all round but it's really stiffness on a budget I'm after.

I'm gonna buy in the next week or so, so any cheap and stiff advice would be great. Just in case I'm barking up the wrong tree, I'm looking for something to minimise the body roll when (trying to go) sideways.

A quick google also shows the avo chassis Dynamics kit (35mm, non-adjustable) as the mid-price between the bilistien streeline (no longer an option) and the psx kit which is damping adjustalbe.

if u dont wanna go too low like with the h&r kit..... then id recommend the shocks demlot has with h&r -35mm springs.... demlots car corners very well having followed him from behind... and although its still high'ish' is very very good....

Dude like i said to you i was trailing that Type R and his inside rear wheel was off the ground, and i was still on power! I just need that Hartge ARB on the rear to balance out the understeer a bit!

Stiff springs will reduce body roll, (also the car wont slide as much) but you need to have good dampers to match the springs. A E30 with stiff lowering springs and stock dampers will be out handled by a E30 with stock dampers at the stock ride height.

koni wound up full im sure will give a stiff ride to reduce body roll? matched with hr springs?

It's not that I don't want it to below. I'm just not bothered about how low it is. I'd rather have some hardcore stiff, quality shocks that sit high but let me fly round corners than some super low shocks that are shit.

h&r seem to be recommended all over the zone but from what I've seen I don't think I can afford them. Budget *stretches* to about 350. with 250 being the ideal money I'd be looking to spend.

Ive got the kit on mine and i would also spend more money and get a more expensive kit..... I dont find the streetline kit hard enough as it uses standard shocks so i would prefer a kit with stiffer, shorter shocks to give a harder ride....They arent too bad if you really cant afford anything more expensive as i have had it on my car for 8months now and it hasnt frustrated me too much....

for what it's worth I've decided on koni sports. out of my budget atm so I'm getting them after the end of the month.

You can get them for less, the rears i got for Ԛ£114 inc vat for two. But that was with blags and discount cause i wanted it.
