My 316i is using lots of water. Put in about 1.5 litres two days ago and today needed topping up again with around 1.5 litres (ish) of water. No signs of water in the oil and doesn't seem to be leaking water. It had a new water pump around the 100k mile mark and 25k miles ago it had a new radiator. It doesn't seem to be over heating (was stuck in a traffic jam for around an hour on Saturday) and the temp gauge seems working. Any ideas what it could be? Its on 150k miles.

It's either leaking it or its going down the exhaust pipe! Any plumes of white smoke?
Check the plugs. Is one much cleaner than the others?
Pinhole leak in a hose?
Leaking water pump seal? (Sometimes only leak when engine is running).

Seems to be no plumes of white smoke which i suppose is a good sign. Will check plugs and have a good look in the day tomorrow. Thanks for the reply Brian
