Daz, after reading that article again on Eurocca I am thinking that as it's big power you are after and that the strip is gonna be the natural habitat for such a beast, you are prob best sticking with the auto box found on so many supras. This makes the donor car even cheaper as the manuals are more desirable.

An auto will get down the 1/4 quicker and you can brake boost (both feet on the pedals meaning you are "on boost" when you step off the brake)

Damn you if you get this conversion done before I do :P

this is the engine from the supra wedge turd yes?

if so then isnt this an unreliable shitter of an engine, and doesnt give much power. hence the reason mk3 supras are worth about £3.50. oh and they also look terrible, and naff...hence the reason they are worth £3.50.

the mk4 was classed as a cheap supercar in its day. the engine is also much more tunable. 400bhp+ is easy i guess. and obviously you can get 1000bhp+ bhp with enough £Â£Ã‚£.

sounds like alot of work daz. steer clear dude.

get an m30 in there or something.

Jon, they get the heavy shitter supra to 60 in the 6 sec bracket and that is in standard trim with 2 cats strangling it.

They have a reputation for headgaskets but once done and torqued down properly, they are strong.

Like he said :thumb:

But Daz if you realy want to go for something to kick a 3.5 or 2.7 up the ass, then drop one of these in the engine bay. I would give you 2 days and you would be :banned: :snigger:

That's all well and good, but what about about a Skyline twin turbo? Potential seems to be limited only by budget judging from the 1000+BHP monsters I've seen reported. The guys making over 1000bhp don't even stress-relieve the block by all accounts. 1000bhp in an E30 would be.......interesting.

The 7M-GTE engine from the UK MK3 Surpa Turbo is the weapon of choice due to availability and they cost buttons. Personally I would look to retain the engine & box, but as JonB said, you are still gonna be messing with the prop. 3.91 diff is the correct ratio, so E30 one perhaps to be retained, but would be interesting to see if the supra one would fit as it is evidently stronger and is LSD as standard.

The 1jz engine mentioned is the 2.5 twin-turbo unit, as per the pic posted by Vinni. These are only found in TT Soarers and also the Jap import MK3 Supra, so they are nowhere near as common, so cost more. A bare engine with no tubs or loom would cost you £375. These are 280bhp out of the box and the right side of 300 once you junk the cats.

The 2jz out of the MK4 supra costs megabucks to buy.

The skyline lumps are OK, but cost much more to get the power gains from compared to the toyota lumps and are not as reliable.

would love to do something extreme but not got the funds, planing a "simple" 2.5/2.8 m50 convert in the search for a non old rickety sounding 2.0 m20, if you have the funds got for it. can always change back if you no like

oh man i may forget the 3.5 conversion and aim for a silly turbo!?!

the guy who is doing some welding on my old girl has 2 supra's with over 800bhp road legal drag cars! mental.

this guy does turbo conversions and more i think he would enjoy the challenge of making a supra turbo powered e30!

but its all about the £Â£Ã‚£Ã‚£Ã‚£Ã‚£Ã‚£Ã‚£Ã‚£Ã‚£Ã‚£Ã‚£Ã‚£Ã‚£Ã‚£Ã‚£Ã‚£Ã‚£Ã‚£Ã‚£Ã‚£Ã‚£Ã‚£Ã‚£Ã‚£Ã‚£Ã‚£Ã‚£ i dont have.

ric,

the skyline had 800bhp mate, the silver supra has about 1000 - 1500 bhp!

put it this way pep's it's got a paracute to slow it down on the strip,

i was thinking about doing this conversion last nite lad, might go and see

how much that spare engine would be thats on the floor!!!!

he did say i should build something stupid like!!!

i think that would do it, 1000 bhp e30 on drag tyres!!!!

hehe.

gall.
