Yea, i drove it 3 miles round the farming council estate and was a bag of nerves! I dont think theres anything in that car that we havnt had apart, so Im gonna be a bag of sh1t when i get (if i get) to Aces. I wont be stopping to erradicate niggly rattles, but ones that sound like they ommit from under the engine bay or under the car will get immediate attention. Im after a new fuel pump too guys, so if anyone has an external, PRE-Facelift bit of fuel pumping goodness, i'll relive them of that at the monday meet. Im gonna be stocked up with fluids, spare parts just incase something goes wrong)

If i make it before midnight, Cinderella made it to her ball.

Rog, ur a legend with the indicators! Whats with the 2 tyres thing? i thought he wanted the set of alloys?
I should be able to drop by, briefly, but that depends on the Tester. if he is a git and gives me a bloody list, not only will he get a seveer slap, but it will take longer before im off on the road. I intend to stop by though.

Marc, i'll take the pump Sir! How much dollar do I need to furnish you with? And can i pick it up tuesday night? If anyone else has a pre facelift external pump, im more than happy to buy 2.

It was the tyres he needed, not the alloys and turns out only his front were knackered,i thought he wanted four aswell.
BTW we didn't notice, but i think Mr Jonb has been doing some drifting in the 5 as the leading edges of the pass side tyres had real nasty scuffing on them!

At least he had BBS so we still have a complete set of 5 alloys to go on Ebay.

Engine crane is fine where it is still at the minute,it's well blocked in at the minute by the M20 trailer,a freezer and various other bits of detrious so is perfectly safe if you want to leave here until you not pushed for time.
Fingers crossed of course you'll have a fresh ticket by 9am anyway!

Fair nuff mate, we'll get them on egay soon and have the thing gone when we un-morsel it. i spotted the shoulders of the tyres when we were doing the swap. im not arsed tbh. lol

if i can leave the hoist till friday mate, that would be more than cool. the m20 trailer needs to be un-m20'd i think - you'd be supprised how much money an engine will break to in a very short period of time. that could be xmas shopping for ya. lol

9am, fingers crossed. im off to bed now to dream about problem-free e30 running

Well Pete....... being the deviant that you are, you'll be dissapointed to know that she flew it! No rust, no holes, no advisories! MWUHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA!!!!!!!

I have decided NOT to bring her to the Ace tonight though, as there is a small amount of gearbox fluid that is seeping from the output seal on the box, so I will replace that next weekend and bring her back then! I know many want to see the result of all my whinging, but they will have to wait until next month for that. (Last monday of next month is xmas day.... so may have to wait till January meet) Local deviants may come to view it, or people like Nelly/Weezie/Zaust/Sal will probably see it next week sometime when i cruise round to pick up/drop off parts.

Looks like my P40 mixing skills have improved over the years doesnt it Peter?

Dave, if i brought it down, i would be sh1t scared that the box would sieze half way. Its not coming with me, its already decided.

Pete, the MOT and tracking cost me £55. no distractions, no pot noodle bribes. Nada! Pete, PM also en-route.

Thats a very executive statement Theo! Have you just collected your Giro or something? Im not risking damaging the drivetrain after all this work mate. I REAAAAALLLLY wanna bring it, but i wont risk it. She drives spot on though! Need a rolling road day soon to see what she put down.

Exactly! Another week wont kill me. I can do the seal and frag that breaker i was on about in the same day/weekend.
French clutter may get some new rubber later today. cheap and crap but legal rubber, as the balancing on the drivers front tyre is boloxed and has cooked a 6" long patch of the tyre.

Congratulations Scott

Are you gonna replace the P40 with metal someday?

My husband got a car through a retest by mixing P38 i think with 3 or 4 times the recommended amount of hardner, bit of mesh, filling the holes then repainted the sills.

The tester said that isnt metal but he cant fail it!

I take it you've Waxoyled the Sport Scott? If not go and buy a Waxyl gun from Brown Brothers - they're about fifty quid. Hire a compressor, get the Waxoyl good and hot (stand it in a bucket of boiling water for 15 mins. Fire it into the sills, arches and EVERYWHERE. Crank the compressor up to 80 psi to do inside the sills as it turns the Waxoyl into a thick fog and it clings to everything. Give the underside a couple of thin coats - no need to have it dripping off. Also fire it into the rear arches from inside the car with the rear side trims removed - as well as the actual arch lip,

I rebuilt a 1978 Alfasud in 1995 and did this as well as adding some (Alfa 33) front arch liners which the E30's have anyway. The car was used everyday by myself and the next owner for 4 years and I saw it again 3 years ago. Apart from a bit of bubbling where the rear arch meets the sill on one side it was still perfect and there are plenty of 1995 cars that are rusted out.

Don't put this job off. Half a day spent now will save you welding it up again in 2 years nad done right it'll never rot again. Anyway, well done Mate. It's done and you can hopefully enjoy the fruits of your labours! :D

It was an old sierra about 15 years ago, all our cars go to the Garage for the MOT work so its all above board!

I have a Toyota Carina, hubby has a 320i SE and we have a Vauxhall Astra as a back-up think thats enough for now!

Andy, that the next job after the output flange seal on the gearbox. Its gonna get some thick coat of sealant i tell u that for free! Dont want the bugger going pear-shaped in the first 6 months out of the garage. I will deffinately get the waxoil gun thing and do anything i can get my mucky fingers onto/into (oo-err).

Alphas rust if you look at them the wrong way, so i salute the job you must have done on that 'Sud!
