Three questions;
Firstly, if I fit a remote locking kit, do I loose the deadlocking function?
Secondly, has anyone tried one of those kits off eBay like this;
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Remote-Keyless-En ... dZViewItem
It appears good, but has anyone actually tried one?
Finally, if I were to fit an immobiliser, what are the best circuits to split? My car had an Autojack immobiliser, I believe fitted my the dealer when the car was new - this one only split the starter motor circuit, when it developed a fault I bypassed it, but think it would be sensible to have something more secure than just the key.
Thanks!

You will lose the dead locking function unless you dealock the car manually after remote locking the door as its the final turn on the door key that dead locks it.
Ive got remote locking on mine and never missed the deadlock function.....if someone wants to get in theyll get in deadlock or not.
As for the immobiliser, they are usually 2 or 3 circuit to be Thatcham 2 approved and it depends on the make and fitter as to which circuits they immobilise......usually the fuel pump, starter motor.

The ebay system in the link looks good value for money. No idea on the quality and long term reliability of course.
It's possible to set up a remote to operate the deadlocks, but they are mechanically operated only on the drivers door and the boot lock, so, on a two door, the only lock that will be deadlocked is the passenger door.
Best, and simplest, immobiliser on an E30, is a hidden switch short circuiting the feed to the fuel pump.

mine had a BMW system dealer fitted a few years ago with an immobiliser, remote locking and ultrasonics and it wasnt that much according to the bill so that might be worth a try...
