What headlamp to use?
Where to get single headlamp holed grill?
Fancy wiring for the special lamkps?
Anyone done it?
Looks kinda cool, like the old 503 and 507. Was thinking of doing it to my Touring...

One of the cats from Spanish meet from that super M3 restoration had them - looked really cool in a classic retro way.
I'm not really into styling mods at all but I would give that ago.
I think the headlamp would be easy, it's the grill that is the real achievement.
Any leads out there...?

You can fit 30 lights to an e21 so maybe a single e21 headlamp would fit, not sure how to do the grille

for your lights to use high and dipped beam you will need the US type sealed dual filiment light, and some minor wiring changes. My Mk1 sport had these US sealed beams and when i put the main beam on the two inner lights came on, but the dipped outer lights also went into high beam. So they are available.

The Glow guys replied.
The grill is a one-off and they don't make them.
The single lamp set-up is 120EURO.

Find a bloke who can do plastic welding and weld two grills,
or alternativly if you don't mind a slight join mark, then just manufacture a mount to hold a shortened gill in there. and I'm sure as previously stated golf lights would fit.

Was convinced that was a photochop because of the repeat in the grill, more obvious on the right side. But no it's for real..
They've cut 2 grills up and joined them very well ... imo horrible, sorry

It's cool only because BMW have done it in the past, and the E30's ancestry used them and it's kind of a cool hark back at those cars.
03, 507 etc.

Can't decide if i like that or not - but it would let more cool air in where the inner lamp is normally in the way!!
Might be something for me to try one day!!

I think it's cool because as I said, BMW have done it many times before and so it's sort of an homage to the older school cars. It's a better styling mod than some of the mad kits and wheels out there that's for sure.
Bit subtler and shows some taste.
Like a black kidney grill or clear indicators - I don't really go in for mad styling and thought this could be a cool little toouch to set my rides apart...
