I've been going through my car fettling eveything that needs it and think that the air flow meter might have had the spring tension increased as I get a puff of black smoke when opening the throttle at idle and it looks like the top has been off at some time.

I've not had an E30 AFM top off before and need to know if there are any marks etc to align back at the standard points.

The rest of the system is spot on, both temp sensors are are within tolerance, the throttle body is as clean as a whistle, all ignition components are sweet. The system is air tight, idle valve is spot on.

Any tips people?

No, I did have a problem with over richness on cold starts but thats sorted with temp sensors and a thermostat that isn't stuck open.

This happens with the engine up to operating temp with the temp guage just under half way. I checked the position of the CO adjustment screw on the AFM housing and tried it with the mixture leaned right out and it still does it.
