As the weather was really nice yesterday, we decided to take a liitle cruize last night to the Guildford cruize to see what it was all about. There was me and my lady in the Rieger and a friend of mine and his lady in my other cab. Journey there was a little slow cause i had to wait for my mate. He couldn't drive fast cause my other cab is so low that the wheels were rubbing badly on the arches because of the uneven surface of the A3. Anyway we limped along and finally go there. Just outside the cruize area, there's a traffic light set and the light was red, so i stopped, turned off my main lights so i only had my side lights(Just the rings on the angel eyes) and i also put my fogs on. The lights went green and i turned right into the cruize area and plod stepped straight in the middle of the road and drirected me to a parking bay. i remember what was said in my last thread about being pulled , so i stepped out of the car with a big smile. He asked if i knew why he'd pulled me? I of course said no and he proceeded to tell me that driving with your fogs on when it wasn't foggy was an offence and a Ԛ£30 instant fine. I was also driving with no headlights and had no tax either. I thought ho poo. This guy is going to do me real bad, but i expalined to him that i only just switched my fogs on and switched my headlight off as we pulled in. He kept going on about how nice my car was and how he'd hate for someone to crash into it claiming they couldn't see me etc. I also expalined to him that i had no tax because my car only passed it's MOT on Saturday afternoon and by then, all the post offices were shut so i couldn't buy one. Luckily for me i had all my paper work to buy tax in the car with me, so that sort of backed up my claim. The end result is, he could have done me for loads of different things and i could have come away with at least 6 points and fines, but all he did was gave me a producer for my license and explained to me that without road tax my insurance was invalid (Something i never knew) We then chatted about my car for a while and he got called off to another incident.

As for the show itself, there were your usual Saxo's and neon lit rice cars. There were a few 30's scattered accross the car park, but i didn't get to chat to any of the owners. The Rieger got so much attention that it started to get embarassing. I wish i'd left the missus at home too cause there were loads of young ladies fluttering their eyelids   I know not to take her if i ever go again. Only problem is that now she knows what these places are like, so she will insist on coming with me everytime i go to one now. Ho bugger

Sorry to hear about it mate.

But I think you, and anyone else driving with fogs on, when it's not foggy, are asking for trouble. More and more people are being pulled up and fined for using fogs without reason, and in fact, I was watching one of those police programmes on telly, where they showed why - quite often the fogs are a distraction and become a cause for danger for other motorists.

And anyway, driving with fogs without the need to, is usually what the Saxo and similar 'wannabe' drivers do - us grown-up E30 lot should know better.

Hint hint, certain Mr A. Potter ? 8O

You're right Bharat, i should have know better. The only reason i use my gog is because it looks nice with my angel eyes, but it's not worth risking other motorists safety for that reason. It's just one of those things that can have implications, but you never really think about it until it's pointed out to you. I just got lucky to get away with it cause he could have done me for the fogs, driving with no headlights, no tax, and my number plate too, so i'm not complaining.

Swirly, if i'd know the Guilford cruize was full of so many youn ladies willing to learn how to lick big lollies, i would have gone agaes ago

practically, i find fogs absolutely useless....now my question is, are fogs so that oncoming traffic can see you in fog or is it to aid with your vision in fog. I feel the latter just fails to occur!

Jog, it's held by Burger king. Just as you come off the A3. To be honest the standard of cars were quiet dissapointing. There were a few nice cars, like the fat black X5 that was there, but not much to shout about when you consider ho many cars were there. I cant complain about the totty though. There were some really good looking ladies there. Shame most of them dont look old enough to won a set of pubes

As for the fogs, i would have felt really harshly done by if i'd had to pay a Ԛ£30 fine. Ho and i just bought a years tax this lunch time, so i dont have to worry about that anymore.

Fog lights are meant to shine low down to help light up the side of the road and white line/cats eyes when the fog is really bad.

I find them fairly usless for lighting up the road. I only use my front fog lights so other road users have a better chance of seeing me, I dont see much of an improvement for my vision.
I actually use them more during the daylight when its foggy cause it gets dark and murky and there is always some tw@t who drives like its a nice sunny day.

Fog lights are desinged and placed in such a way that they are able to get under the fog!

Nav, i will post a thread nearer the next one, so any of us E30 boys who are local can meet up there and do our own thing. It will be a laugh.

johnono i now have tax  Only reason i never got one was because my car failde it's 1st attempt of the MOT test due to a cracked wishbone. I sent it straight to the garage and they replaced both sides, plus sorted out a few bits and bobs. I took it back last Saturday and it sailed through, but by the time we finished it was just after 1pm and all the post offices were shut, so i couldn't get the tax. I made sure i got it 1st thing yesterday morning though, so i can now go out and not worry too much.

Ho except one of my break lights is not working now  I went to change it yesterday and realised that due to the way my boot install is done i cant get access to the lights, so i'll have to take the car all the way to Southampton to my trimmers just to have a bulb changed
