ATE power disks worked well with the ferrodo ds2500s on the ring, not sure theres much to be gained disk wise at the rear, go standardo.

Exactly, with out going for bigger calipers/disk etc... this is as good a set up as any for standard replacement.
The rear brembos disks were only about 25-30 bucks from gsf and ate about the same from ecp, not much more expensive than the standard disks.
Well worth going for a decent brake fluid as well!

To be fair i think the solid brembo disks allround would work just as well, most of the work is in the pads and fluid but......cliffybabe wrote:

It very much depends what you want to do with the car. I'm no expert on E30's but I know a little about brakes
If it's a road car then going for aggresive pads will mean largely decreased performance when the pads are cold. They could be considered dangerous and also possibly illegal. The probability is that they will also generate some nasty brake dust which will eat your wheels and paintwork.
If the car is being used for track work what you buy will depend on the weight of the car. It's a waste of money spending thousands on a big brake conversion for a car which is lightweight. IMHO.
I would agree that DS2500's are a good compromise, they come up to temperature pretty quickly and give good performance. DS3000's are a little too aggresive IMHO, too easy to lock the wheels up.
The more aggresive the pad the more often you will be replacing discs. You can't have it all
On my track car I run Black Diamond grooved discs and DS2500 or Mintex pads. They suit my car just fine.

I run ate power discs on the front with ferodo ds3000s,standard discs and ebc greenstuff on the back.
For fluid I use castrol SRF race fluid.
The brakes are shocking for the first few stops but one stop from 30 ish will heat them enough to be fine for road use.
My mate uses the Ds2500's on his integra and there doesn't seem to be a difference in warmup time but he reckons they feel pretty shit after a track day,I will be trying mine on track in a few weeks but so far I have not seen even a hint of fade!
Bargain set up too, disc were £21 each from ecp for the front, all the pads were ebay bargains so I have only spent £100 in total!

I run 3G grooved disks with Mintex 1144 pads, BMW brake fluid and braided lines, only use the car for road use and they are great. Very impressed.

There are two sets of the ferodo competition pads for an e30 on ebay, same chap I got mine off.
They are listed as FCP660 and are the race pads with the older part no's 3340 compound I belive.
I am told by a freind in the know that these are the same compound as the DS3000's just older spec.
The guys ebay name is billspeed. I could have posted a link in the same time it took me to write this but nevermind, they are in performance tuning under e30(obviously)
