Occasional problem with my startermotor not operating from the key. Need to wire in a switch as i think either the ignition barrel or wiring from is at fault. If i pass a positive current to the small connection on the startermotor solenoid will it spin the starter?
I am pretty sure it will but i don't want to bridge it in case i blow it up! My plan is to control the ignition on/off with the key and have a seperate switch direct to the solenoid to operate the starter. Only 2 wires on the starter the big one is the permanent live and the smaller one i am guessing is the switch?
Def not the starter at fault as i have replaced engine and problem persists albeit very random! usually when i am parked at the bottom of a hill or late at night lol
any advice appreciated

It is meaningless to ask; which is real, 'real' or imaginary? It is simply a matter of which is the more useful description

Clean the contacts in the switch.
There is NO nucleus.
