In fitting my S50, I would like to use a 325i oil cooler. It fits perfectly and as far as I can see will cool adequately. The one that came from my engine died in the crash.

To do this I was thinking about joinint the remaining good bit of the e36 hoses to the e30 hoses.

What's the best way to do this? What pressure do these operate at?

Many thanks in advance.

I'd get some braided hoses made to length to fit

On the M20, they operate at up to around 4bar.

I used the universal push in fittings and hose clips that MOCAL and the like sell and to be honest, whilst they're not too bad, they do weep a bit so I'd recommend that you mock up what you want in terms of the fittings, pipe lengths and most importantly the orientation of the fittings, and then have them properly crimped on just to make sure they don't leak.

No reason why you shouldn't splice the hoses you've got together, but the more joints there are, the more likely to leak they are :(

Surely the S50 oil cooler would bigger than the M20 cooler ?

Not by much if at all IIRC. I think there is hardly any difference in the core size, its more the casing size and the pipe fittings that are different. M20 has in and out on opposite ends, the S50 has them both on the same side.

I'd use the S50 one if it were intact! I can get a replacement M20 one cheaper and the pipes and oil cooler I have from the S50 are shot. I'd have to get both.
