Can anybody give me any tips on removing the above as i prefer driving without it.Not planning on selling car so not really bothered about a buyer who would prefer it on the car.Need to know if its just a case of removing the pump and pipes or is there more involved.Have done a search but unable to find a post describing removal.Car is a 86 325i cab if that helps.

I had one that had no fluid in it at all, and it drove fine, albeit with heavyish steering. So removal of pump and pipes may well be an option.

Rack will be fine with no fluid, and no concern of the MOT tester.
Take some kind of action to stop dirt entering the rack though.

Nope - and they'd definitely not be able to pull it up on a leaking rack!
