I havent driven my M3 for a few weeks so decided to take it for a spin yesterday. Started it up as usual and pulling to the end of our road there was a smell of petrol.....nothing too bad but it was still there. No leaks under the car and nothing visible under the bonnet!!

Any ideas please?

If the smell is at the front, then the fuel hose to the engine is probably weeping.
At first, it leaks so slowly that the petrol immediately evaporates, and you won't see any evidence.

Cracking Brian cheers!!

That was gonna be the next job after winter!! Gonna replace all the hoses.

Will a fuel hose come with the hose set or will they just be water hoses?? (For sale at C3)

It could also be a pinhole in the tank... 78dude's one had a petrol smell, but no visible leak, until one morning the patch gave way....

oh what fun

Fuel hose is fuel hose, water hoses are water hoses. If you buy water hoses you won't get fuel hoses with them.
Fuel hose can be bought by the metre, but make sure it's high pressure hose and the right internal diameter.

Two black rubber hose going from low down at the rear left of the engine bay to the top left hand side of the engine.
If your engine is a M40, there are some short hoses hidden under the inlet manifold as well.
