Hey all.

Someone in the history of my cars life has fiddled about with the AFM(at least thats what i think it is, a square plastic cap covering a cog) and the idle control valve...

The result is that my 89' plate 325i is lacking the power that i know it should have and I don't know what to do to get things back to normal!

Is there a way of DIY recalibration of the AFM and the idle control valve?

looking 4ward to ur input, cheers!

Idle control valve can only be cleaned out with, for example, brake cleaner (or replaced if stuck and knackered).

AFM CO allen key adjuster screw can only be effectively adjusted in conjunction with an exhaust probe measuring the burnt mixture coming out. If the screw had a cover on it - maybe it shouldn't be adjusted - if there's a catalytic convertor is fitted.

Suggest a small service including plugs, distributer cap & rotor arm and filters. Then mixture adjustment can be set up with all the other right conditions.

Keep posting and hope you're enjoying the zone - sorry your first post is a problem with your car littleG.
