Welded diff any good ??
Moderator: martauto
A mate of mine has one on his E30, but he thinks its a bad idea to use them on the road. The car will chew tyre,s like no tomorrow, and the ass end will come out on you alot. Unless you want to go side ways every were and have complet control in what you are doing. Go for it. If not, get a LSD to be on the safe side.
i have seen plenty of people with spools and welded diffs in the daily driver it just takes a bit of gettin used to. follow a few simple rules and ur fine. dont attempt any tricky reverse parks no u turns infront of the filth and keep a spare piggy bank for tyres. (oh and a spare diff and drive shafts for when something goes bang clunk clunk clunk).
a mate of mine drives a hq monaro with 355 stroker on the giggle gas and a spool daily i think u can handle a lil bimmer.
personally i like to be able to park where i want and dont have enough points to be attracting the attention of the authorities. but when i get them back i think its time to get out the welder.

Thats reason enough not to have a welded diff on an everyday car.WerkdE30 wrote:oh and a spare diff and drive shafts for when something goes bang clunk clunk clunk.

ive got a welded diff and i love
i dont drive it much on the road but even if i did i would still keep it.
they drift lovely with a welded diff
i think lsd are only 25% on bmws which will make it twichy compaired to a welded one
