clearly the i.s is better on juice out the 3 but using an m3 every day for 35 miles what would you be looking at over a 7 day wk? i own a 318is and get around average 75 miles to a tenner if i give it death about 55-60ish i think, just curious as am thinking of selling up for the 4pot to really have!

On a motorway run with some normal dring about at each end, my M3 (with a Milltek and a Conforti chip) will average about 31-32mpg. I have had 40+ just on the motorway but that was like I was driving Miss Daisy about.

Around town on my work commute I get about 20ish mpg

On track at Oulton Park yesterday I was getting 11 mpg.

Generally, from the OBC and over a period of time, I get high teens to low 20s.

Depends on the M20.

When my 2.5 was in my Sport I did regular trips to Heathrow from Somerset (all motorway). Sat at 75-80ish it would get about 36-37mpg on every trip. That was worked out by brimming the tank etc, not on the OBC.

Around town and a mix of country lane driving with heavy right foot I would get 24ish mpg, but could get 28-30mpg no problem if driving sensibly, but not having much fun. Having a lot of fun would see very low 20s winkeye

Now the same engine is in my touring (and not running 100%) Im seeing 24-25mpg when driving semi sensibly, but it has dropped into the high teens at one point 8O

my m3 is pretty economical, as long as you're not over about 4k too much.

Been driving my dad's banger 1.8 auto golf for the last couple of weeks (been doing some building work), and it uses loads more petrol than mine.

Well, Ԛ£10 is currently about 11 litres which is roughly 2.45 gallons.

At the 20 mpg that I mentioned earlier that gives you approximately 49 miles from a tenner.

20mpg must be fairly spirited driving. my daily commute is varied b-road tuff, and usually at a fairly decent pace yet i seem to get easily over 25mpg quite suprised really, as i'll see over 7000rpm several times every trip.

87 325i auto (computer box not cable controlled)

Cruising at 60 it's running about 40-45mpg. at 70-75 it's doing between 30-35mpg. around town low 20's

below 60 it's not any better really as the computer unlocks the torque converter around 52mph and by then with the 3.64 ratio it's fallen out of the usfull power/torque range and using more throttle.
