hi ppl

a follow up from a thread earlier on about wax's and polish.

i was just wondering what you used?

at the moment im using a Turtle Wax wash and wax concentrate. and seems to do my car and wheels very well.

but i have the option to use Mer wax, what does everybody think of Mer?? should i use it instead of my wash and wax?

hey lee

i have heard of mer, but havent used it so cant comment on it,

but i can recommend what i use on my sport, ....

Meguiars, :D

very top notch stuff, recommed it 100%, it may seem pricey but the shine afterwards amazing and if not all but some products have cleaning protection qualities to,

a meguairs example, i used quick clay for the first time a couple months back, with it you get a clay bar and a cleaning bottle which cleans the top layer of the paint, tree sap, over spray, hard to get off stuff like, when you glide your hand accros the paint work and you feel the roughness etc, clayin your car will make the paint smooth as glass, it really is amazing, when i first clayed it my mate kam (from this forum to) felt the paint and he said " your car is smooth, it soft like a babys bum" haha cracked me up,

the range of products is big, first time i went to buy megs i got confused, :? , but soon after you get use to the stuff and actually enjoy detailling your car.

other more pricey products which are as good as megs (maybe better??)zymol and zaino,

visit the http://www.meguairs.co.uksite, they have a forum over there, do a search on wax, polish etc and it does come up with very usefull stuff.

HTH lee.

cheers nadeem! :D

as you mention the quick clay, i also have this but i havent used it yet. after what you have said i will definetly be using this on the E30 now :)

never bought a meguiars wax or polish, because as you say there are alot of different ones on the market and i simply didnt know which one to use :?

ive heard of zymol and its been recomended to me aswell, not sure if id go out and pay that much though for a wax or polish as i am not applying for the "show and shine" of e30's competition

thanks again for your help 8)

Last year i went to Gaydon and was given a sachet of Zymol cleaner wax.
Ive never looked back, as my car is Black you get a lot of swirl marks, zymol just gets rid of em and makes my car shine and smell of coconuts mmmmmmmmmmmmm
I used to use mer, but found that it left a white chalky residue on the body, wich Zymol doesnt leave.
Coconuts is the way to go !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The inside of my car smells of lemons and the outside is coconuts.

I use Meguiars, i have found it gives the best shine.
I found in the past that Turtle wax Colour magic seems to work well as well on Black and Red cars.

hi all

zaino zaino zaino zaino
p21s cleanser

3M pre cleanse products
oh and did i mention zaino!!

also a big big factor in detailing a car well is products used to wash dry apply product and remove product

so many times i see people with reasonable wax/polish and then they apply it with terrible cloths rags ,use chamois leathers ,sponges etc etc

with these you are putting in more swirls scratches than you are getting rid of

i will in the next few weeks be becoming a distributor for microfibre products from usa they are the best available bar none
in fact they have all been tested on surfaces of cd to make sure they leave no marks at all and i mean none

these will be micofibre wash mitts, waffle weave drying cloths, ultra plush mf cloths for polish removal, glass mf cloths,mf applicator pads

i have tried all available i promise you and these are incredible

not all microfibre is the same and some thats available in thiscountry is terrible

I too import all my MF towels That are all tested using the cd marring/scratch test ZAINO excellent sealent but not a one step product as on poorly prepared paint will make all the flaws stand out, but done correctly its superb, p21s love the stuff the paint cleanser & carnuaba wax is a killer on dark colours, zymol over priced Imho,I will put a few megs/sonax/ez1 etc kits up 4 sale with a discount or in the group buy section.

i agree
zaino is a finishing product and i always stress that
the work on the paint surface has to be done first
no its not a one shot fix but there isnt one
it doesnt exist!
i agree with zymol very expensive but its just not durable imho
if surface is prepped right
ie all previous products removed clay and then say 3M swirl mark remover or somrthing similar even p21s pre cleanser
zaino is amazing and will outlast anything on the market

heres a picture of zaino done well with good prep

Image

it is a mistake to stick with one manufacturer imho you need to mix and match and find what works for you and gives the finish that you are looking for
some people want more or less than others and work put in reflects finished result

just my thorts

I use autoglym gloss polish, then gloss wax protection. You polish with normal autoglym, then wipe the wax protection all over (it has a petrol like consistency) then you leave it for an hour and wipe off - BLING

Zaino and zymol do look the nuts, but they cost Ԛ£, i'm only a poor apprentice!
