Don't you wish there were a knob on the TV to turn up the intelligence? There's one marked 'Brightness', but it doesn't work.

Still to early in the morning to get my head around that lot! Check the earthing points on the inner wing behind the LH headlamp, and under the LH side of the rear seat.

Parking lights? Do e30's have them??
My old e34 had em - if you turned the car off with your indicator and lights on, it would only light up the side of the car the indicator is pointed to... Not sure if that's what you mean... Bit confusing to say the least!!

I think its because your only supposed to park on the left side of the road so approaching cars can see the rear reflectors.
If it worked on the left side and you parked facing the oncoming traffic your front light would dazzle the approaching driver because your lights aim slightly to the left on right hand drive cars.
That may not be the answer your after but your last post seems to contradict your first.
If its just the half beam on the left not working then its probably the resistor for that side thats corroded as the bulb is ok because it works when the main beam is on.
