Surpose if you get a GPR bonnet and wings it would be nice and light.

Woah, that looks sweet!!!!

Often done on mini's - mostly with fibre glass (GRP) panels!!! Mine doesn't tilt - it just lifts off!!
Is sometimes done on the mini's with proper panels - and looks the nuts!!!

It would take a bit of effort to align everything properly, but basically you just seam weld all the front end panels together - wings, bonnet and front panel on the mini - not really sure how the front grille, bumper, skirt, etc mount on the E30, but i'm sure it wouldn't be too hard for a decent bodyshop.

If you were doing it, i reckon the extra effort of doing a metal front would look much better.
On a front end this big i would prob have it motorised aswell, just operate from a spare button on your alarm or something!! But it can just be hinged, or on gas struts etc.

Given me a wicked idea actually, i want a motorised one piece raw carbon front end, but i can't afford to do it for a long time now!!
Must get a lottery ticket this week!

Lovely idea. The big bonnet was great on things like the old Triumph Spitfires and Heralds, made it a doddle to work on them. I do agree with Bimmaman though, the bonnet doesn't look like it can open far enough with that front spoiler. Wonder how often he bangs his head under there?
Just needs a bit more tilt IMO. At least he can get all round the V8 to work on it. Access good, just mind your head.
He can do it to mine anytime.

its been roll caged at the front and it can be fully removed for engine work, only problem is the lift if the car is to low you will have clearance issues on the front spoiler, but easy to do but a lot of man hours, done one long time ago

Lots and lots of man hours!!!!
You could make it tilt to whatever angle you want with enough effort - the hinges could lift it a bit as it tilt's forward to give you enough clearance!!

Forgot about the strengthening!!! My mini isn't caged (yet) but it does have all the proper strengthening bars welded in place - obviousely you lose the inner wings, etc and therefore all the strength!!!

Looks like they left the inner wings attached to the car on this one though...

So they have - prob not something you want to remove on an e30!!!!! On the mini they just pull 'em off!!
Much easier to get to stuff for servicing, etc!!
