2 questions:

1.I have never waxed/polished/anythinged my car apart from washed it with clean water. I want to step up the care regime a bit but with all the care products imagineable on the market I've no idea what to get. Can smoeone advise what products I need by which manufacturer (including alloy cleaner) and also something to treat my plastic rear window which is getting dirty/marked? thanks

2. I need a front/rear foglight switch that DEFINITELY works all the time fairly urgently, can anyone help?

thanks very much on both counts

I don't know about the cab window! I think Geeman recommended a very good product to someone recently though.

Try some of the Meguiars range, I use them and find them good.

I may have a foglight switch at home, I will tell you tomorrow unless someone finds one sooner!

This will make your rear window like new. It's amazing! I promise... used it on lots of cars and the results (after a little effort) are fantastic!

As for car cleaning, I use Turtle Wax alloy wheel cleaner, and that's brill too. (available from Halfords) Squirt on, then using a brush agitate it, then rinse off... easy!

I wash the bodywork in Zymol car shampoo (available from Halfords also), squeegee down then chamy off...

Then I paint-clean / polish / wax using Meguiars... available on-line...

Hope this helps...

Giles.

GEEMAN, many thanks for that reccomendation, I saw it advertised in TBMW I think and thought it was 'just another one' as I see that sort of thing ALL the time. But with a personal reccom. I will definitely give it a go.

MARK3, what you said sounds amazing, it would be awesome if you could put together a package for me at a competetive price. I'd a line up that would get my car looking good and protected, so I don't know if that means polish and wax, or what but I'm sure with your knowledge....... you know what I mean. I would also want some alloy cleaner. So if you'd be able to do that I would be REALLY REALLY grateful. Many thanks

PS. Still after the switch for anyone else reading this

A word of advice matey b4 u go buying all these expensive caring products, first you need to ask yourself are you really gonna spend that much time cleaning your car coz ive done the same bought all these meguirs stuff and then only manage to wash my car 1 every 3 weeks. And with these care products you have to be fussy coz you have to spend abit more time going thru their instructions and i find with meguirs they always recommend you to buy other of their products just to finish the cleaning off. And all these tally up quite alot of Ԛ£s! So to start of just buy a shampo and try it first. Dont get me wrong Meguirs is one of the leading products in the market, but I personally use Autoglym slighty cheaper and less products that you have to buy. But again everything depends on your cars actual paintwork aswell.
Gudluck mate enjoy the clean.

thanks H-M3, yeah I have thought about exactly what you talk about which is the purpose of this thread. I didn't want to rush to halfords and but Ԛ£100+ of Meguires only to find it didn't make Ԛ£100 worth of difference or that I couldn't be arsed to go over the whole 5 times with five different products. And as a result Mark3 has come up with the perfect answer, so thanks for your advise, but I think I'm on top of things. Will post some 'shiney' pics when it gets a good going over.

I used meguirs before but i personally never seemed to get along with it for some reason? i never found the gleam to last long. I Use that Mers Car Polish from Halfords and im very impressed with it! Lasts a bit longer but its a fair amount of effort to get it started. but once you have put it on the car once or twice its easier afterwards :) very happy. will post some pics of my girl when i get the digicamera sorted out :)
