How difficult is it?

I guess I am most worried about removing the door card. While I can do this on the Mondeo with my eyes closed, that is only held on by screws, rather than fragile clips.

Any advice?

I have scuffed the N/S mirror on my dark green E30 and am considering keeping an eye open for a matching mirror, albeit in better condition, but if it is tricky to remove the door card I may not bother.

I think it is pretty straight forward, you only need to pull back the top of the door card if it in the way and just pull the backing plates (or in my case tweeter pods) off, though they may need a wiggle, you just need to be brave and not scared that they'll snap!

its a small enough item to spray yourself with a tin of paint from the dealer, thats what i intend to do with mine anyway before i sell them.

There is absolutly NO need to remove the door card to get at the wing mirror mounts.
The black plastic triangle (or tweeter pods) can be incliped, then it is a simple case of unbolting the mirror assembly from the door and dosconnecting the wires from the plug.

So how is the triangle trim held on?

Does it clip around anything, or does it just pull straight off?

Sorry if this is a stupid quesiton, but my car isn't here right now for me to check.

Just out of interest, if I did want to remove the door car (i.e. to remove door handle and lock before door is painted) are there any tips?

Is the door bin fixed to the card, or through the card onto the door?

I am sure I read somewhere that there is a screw behind the mirror switch? Any tips on removing this?

Thanks for your help!

pop the mirror switch out for the last bit

trim tools are best
but if you havnt a mate that has them then a flat blade screw driver will do

No need to remove the card for this - The handle is attached on the outside with two phillips headed bolts. As for the lock, pry the black surround off then mask the lock 'face'.
